All the best Jamie!! I’ve had both done (with a 7 year gap!!) and it’s transformed things for me!! Tips for the start though- keep up with the heavy meds for a bit and make sure they are taken regularly as it takes ages if you let the levels drop to get them back up again. You need to be relatively pain free to do the exercises!! And be prepared for some restless nights as you will be tired- your body will be concentrating on healing. The worst for me was having several weeks learning to sleep on my back as I’m a natural side sleeper so play around with pillows and cushions until you find a position that works for you. You will notice improvements every day. 😃😃

I hear you , I'm a side sleeper also and finding it very difficult in my back And I learned I stopped the narcotics too soon. Started back up with them last nite. Thanks

Every day will get better and better. Post-surgery, it's a different type of pain entirely and the great thing is that the pain you're feeling now will diminish pretty rapidly. Within two weeks I was just taking the occasional paracetamol. Do the physio religiously and walk as much as you can. Don't fight the irresistible urge to nap...the early days are surprisingly tiring. I bought a Snoozle (one of those slippy tubular sheets) to lie on in bed - it is so much easier to make little adjustments to your sleeping position. You'll be grand.

ThanksI am seeing gradual improvements, cut down a little on the pain meds and went from the walker to a cane.

The thing really bothering me now is staring at these 4 walls. I only take walks in the house we are experiencing a week long heatwave, this too shall pass.
