Has anyone experienced eye problems with Steriods or Morphine based p/killers,for the last week i seem to spend a lot of time focusing my Eyes depending on what I am doing wether its reading or moving about, Could it be I am not as mobile as I have been in the past, and when I am mobile i am all over the place, if you have had an inner ear infection it's the same senario when you stand up,I do have a nearly blind Eye which i have had a long time without any problems,Any info before I have to get my Eyes tested.Matt

Hi Matt. I have developed this lately and believe in my case its secondary Sjogrens probably. I'm always blinking just now and straining to see more - especially of an evening. I had a full eye test a month ago because of this (wasn't due for a few more months) and all fine - the usual lens's still valid. Went back with new varyfocals because still straining with them and he did a blink test and found that where normal people blink every ten seconds or more and severely affected people blink every 3 - I blink every six seconds with both eyes. This means I do have moderately dry eyes and he recommended preservative free eye drops which I use sometimes to good effect now.

You should get them tested as soon as possible. RA can affect the eyes, or it could be the drugs or else it could be secondary Sjogrens - an autoimmune add on to RA.

Hi Matt,

A few years before my RA was diagnosed, and my wrist and hand pains were put down to working to hard RSI , I developed red eyes one morning which for the first day were just red, bloodshot looking, but by the second day my vision was blurry any kind off light was like someone stabbing my eyeball with a knife and behind my eye was pounding with pain.

Doctor sent me straight to a&e , and I was diagnosed with uveitis, which is another auto immune disease like RA is, I've got a major flare off uveitis now but only in my left eye, I have to wear a patch over it to keep light out and to ease the pain from trying to look at anything, focusing on anything would be unbearable pain so I stick to the eye patches as told.

Even if the kids think the lady in the wheelchair mum she's a pirate lol, this is what a hound kid ran over to her mum in the que at home bargains yesterday lol.

So I think I should take the parrot out with me next time to.

Your always better to get your eyes checked out, as soon as any changes , after all we only get the one pair.

Take care

Julie
