Thanks everyone for your lovely messages in reply to my blog "Good News".I,m sure there must be a way to reply to you all but my computer skills have let me down in this area.Anyway, hopefully you'll read this and know how much I've appreciated them all.
Yesterday I was racing round like a woman possessed trying to finish the bits and bobs that we all need to do as Christmas approaches.
I wrote a long letter to one of my oldest friends. We always write with our news at Christmas time.Went to our local post office.I only found out recently that if cards etc are more than 5mm deep front to back they need extra postage.I didn't want anyone to have to pay excess postage just to receive my 'Seasons Greetings'.The clerk was very helpful and dropped each of my envelopes through his magic measurer. They all passed but it was a close run thing.
Went to the butchers and ordered the Christmas fare, the chemist for the prescriptions, the wine merchants for the bubbly and the hardware shop for some batteries. Not quite sure how it happened but I came away with a set of miniature wooden toys to decorate the tree even though my daughter had already done that, a new coal bucket and a set of plastic containers but no batteries.Had to go back for those.
My husband and my daughter exchanged knowing looks which said 'back to normal then' when they saw my purchases.
It's amazing what effect good news can have. xxx
