I suffer quite often with pain in my groin area, it just comes on for no reason and can then just disappear, just like a flare in the joint i suppose. Does anyone else have this? It is quite painful to lift my leg. Feels like a strain but i haven't done anything to strain it.
Hi ArthurRighteous, if it's not a strain injury it could be arthritis in the hip or if you have problems with your back it could be referred pain from there. Make sure you mention it to your consultant next appointment, if it's troublesome ask for an earlier appointment or see your G.P.
my hips are ok at the moment and i don't have trouble with my back. I have actually seen a consultant today, not my usual one though. I didn't think to mention it as i've been more concerned with the Carpal Tunnel in my right hand! the groin pain has started again tonight...oh the joys of it all .....!!
Arthur, re: re: carpal tunnel - found wrapping my wrist in a cold wetish towel helped through the night, sitting with wrist in cold water, cold pack wrapped in a towel also helped. I eventually had carpal tunnel release surgery (mine was both left and right) which has cured it.
Are you knee joints sore?My knrees are swollen which makes me walk strangely which often causes pain in my hips and groin.Maybe give your rhuemy nurse a quick ring for advice
Knees aren't too bad at the mo, can shout at me a bit when i'm walking the dog, especially when this bitter cold wind we have a the moment cuts into your legs.. thanks for your advice but i wouldn't bother the nurses over something that will probably be gone again by tomorrow eve, i don't like to be a nuisance..
I get this type of pain and I have done for many years, I went to see the Doctor type person and I also had a scan of the hole area, nothing was found so unfortunately the pain goes on and on and on but it doesnt last for ever Im glad to say, it does keep commimg and going lol , when it comes on I rest and tend to try some gentle stretching exercises,
Are the lymph nodes in your groin swollen? If so could just be an infection that your body's trying to fight off. I find the node in my armpit gets sore/swollen every now & then, and then goes away again. After several investigations docs said that a mild infection was most likely reason. But as Beth says maybe try to remember to mention at next appt - big post-it note stuck on your coat perhaps? Polly
hi, thanks for that, i think you may be right, i also have a lymph node up on my arm, seen the doc today as my wrist swelled up so bad last night that i can't move my fingers today and am in a lot of pain. I've had a steroid injection into the muscle so hopefully all will calm down soon.
The groin pain was gone again by the next morning, which is usually the way.
cheers

Um.. I think I mioght be able to shed some light on this problem. I had a similar problem last winter, became really acute, saw my Rheumatologist, had xray of pelvi bones. It was found to be a compression of nerves that run through the SI joint, Sacro-Iliac joint near the lower part of the pelvic bones. The nerve is what you are likely feeling. The reason it comes and goes is in relation to your position or posture at the time you feel it.
He gave me a steroid injection, directly into the SI joint, and after a few days I could say it was gone,
Just one more joint that can be affected by RA! Fascinating, isn't it? Do report it though, just keep in mind that nerves do not show up on xrays, moderate inflammation should be noticeable.
Oh yes i have that sometimes so bad that I cannot lift my leg!It will start in my groin and go into my leg..I think it has something to do with a nerve..All I know is that its very painful,,but your right its there and then its gone just as fast?Weird!!!!!!
