How I hate this disease and what it does to me. By mid evening last night, knew I had overdone it with trying to look after sick hubby, walk the dog in the pouring rain, toiling up and down stairs (it is the stairs which finish me off sometimes) with a tray of eggs and toast and tea for his Lordship and of course, went to work in the morning as well.

My one bright spot was the WI lunch which I really enjoyed with the rest of the girls and we had a good laugh.

By mid evening, I ached so much could hardly move. My knees particularly were very bad and my feet which hurt so much. I don't know which bit of me did not ache or remind me that I have RA.

Went to bed after watching part of a film on TV with my feet up and then couldn't sleep and had a really wretched night tossing and turning. This morning, wrists, hands, and fingers, knees and feet not to mention the shoulders are all letting me know which bit of them hurts the most.

I have tried to tidy up this morning as well as Tilly at least is moulting and I think Berry is too so dog hair everywhere and my cleaner doesn't come until Friday. I have as usual, overdone it again this morning. So tired I can't think straight. Having to stay in to wait for two parcels to come which at least is keeping me in one place for a change!

We all try to stay cheerful but sometimes it is very hard. Coffee is calling, the grandfather clock is striking 11, Berry asleep in his pen and Minniecat asleep on top of the radiator - she does feel the cold bless her. She is 10 this month and although not an old lady, does like to warm her bones. I know the feeling. Lavendar Lady x

Right LL,third time lucky to answer your post. Have you considered a stairlift. I wouldn't be without mine and the service is very good. Took 3 days from first phone call to installation. The company is called acorns and i highly reccomend them. Now take it easy today and tell hubby to get on the sofa so it will be easier for you. Rest my friend. Love sylvi.xx

Hi Sylvi, yes I have thought about it and my son has checked the staircase in the castle turrets as they are very windy and there are lots of bends etc. He thinks the stairlift company would not have a problem in fitting one in. However, I am resisting it at present as I feel it would be giving up and giving in to this disease.

When my GP told me 4 years ago that I would have to move to a bungalow (!) and I was so upset having lived here for over 30 years and just got the house the way we want it, that I decided then RA could go hang itself - it wasn't getting the better of me.

I don't know what is the matter with the site today - I have had dreadful trouble trying to log on, respond to blogs etc that several times I have given up trying. Perhaps there is just a lot of traffic on it today. Have had a good rest today and done very little which has helped although shoulder still very sore and painful but the other joints are easier with the rest and some heat on them. Love LL. x

I felt the same as you do,but the choice was really taken out of my hands as i couldn't get up them. Yes i agree about not giving in to this b""""y disease, but as people have told me before it not giving in but geting around it. LL it has been the best decision that have been made for me. I put washing on it to sent it upstairs, i put the deccies on it when we got them out of the loft, oh and yes i do sit on it as well. I don't want to move and now i won't have to. Have a look at acorns as they were very good and yes they can do turrets.

I remember the doc telling my mum years ago that she would be in a wheelchair with the problems in her back. I think there were a few words to describe her attitude to that was and the second was off, and she never did go into a wheelchair.

Regarding this site i'm wondering if that the weather is having any effect with it as mine is wireless. Lets face it we are all suffering with the weather with our ra/fibro why not the website.

You will have to come to bulkington and try my stairlift,i'm 56yrs and i'm using one, I hate having to use a scooter, but needs must if i want to get out.

Love to you and your family and hope hubby is better.

Sylvi. xx

i hope you get some comfort and pain relief soon! i think it might be the weather thats having us all flaring quite bad :( i think we all need to move to sunnier climates!! your animals sound lovely, i think maybe a long bath and a treat for yourself might help, like a new hair do (i have myslef booked in for when im home) or a facial or a massage?

i do hope you feel better soon, this disease is horrible especially at this time of year. xxx

Hi all. Still in trouble today but just had my MTX injection so hoping that will help. I think it is the weather and doing too much. Weather has been so changeable here - one day warm, the next bitterly cold. RA is affected so much by the weather but I have found when staying on holiday in a hot climate that that also affects the RA as well. It seems to be the extremes that do it.

Going to the hairdresser tomorrow. She also understands as she has psoriatic arthritis. Unfortunately, I can't use the bath as once in I can't get out again! sometimes I just stand under a hot shower for ages and that helps as well.

Not gone into work this morning as feel so rough and also the asthma has flared up as well so wheezing nicely at the moment. Also Berry is coughing - think he has got something stuck somewhere - he does root about in the garden but otherwise seems ok. Going to have a quiet day as also had another bad night last night as well and didn't get much sleep. Awake from 3.45 until 6 a.m. and I think I did doze for a while as didn't hear the clock strike 7 downstairs.

Ohmygosh! That is just too much, even for a perfectly normal 40 yr old! I do hope your "patient" is better!

Atleast you had a break to spend time with the girls. Take care. Loret
