Hi again. Body playing up again! Has anyone experienced cold sweats? It is happening to me more and more, especially if I am active in the slightest way.. Getting dressed etc? Can't face another docs appointment at the moments.

Hi Steph,
I suffer from them on regular occasions. Wake during the night and the front of my body is drenched in perspiration. I found if I keep my bedroom window open a little it sometimes helps.
I also try not to take caffeinated drinks after 8 pm.
Keep a few nightdresses to wear close to hand and wear cotton too.
Definately not just a woman thing as some of the gents on here suffer too......... but they should stay away from the night-dresses. Ha ha ....
cotton sheets help too.

hiya i get hot and cold in the matter of mins all the time. i don't really understand this stupid illness. i just want it to go away. also i feel like you, i don't want to go the doc's because they will just tell me that i have got something else wrong with me. it all sucks xx
not cold sweats been waking up in the night hot sweating
and no dont even where me night dress lol
used to wear me t shirt but darnt do it now
keep a rag at side of bed to wipe me down
only started again in the last couple of weeks but last time used to be soaking in the bed till we got a plastic under quilt
Well it is normal hot sweats for me, but i am going though the menopause, I did have something like this a few weeks ago and i felt so cold but was sweating at the same time, it only lasted for a few hours so i put it down to the MTX, hope you feel better soon XX
it pours out of me too - my pillow can be soaked overnight, and just getting dressed made me dripping wet too! i used to get this before my diagnosis so i think it was probably an early symptom.
i would sleep with the window wide open in the middle of winter because i felt like i was on fire - i was freezing but burning up at the same time! it was awful.
i take gabapentin for pain and i found out that it is a miracal cure for cold sweats and hot flushes too - my pillow is dry on a morning now and i can close my window on a night. it's worth asking your doctor if they'll prescribe it for you - it might help you.
Yep me too, know what you're going through. Had my hormone levels checked but all normal so GP says it"s RA. I found that a natural fiber quilt helped me. My actual quilt (not cover) is made of silk fibres and the cover's made of 100% percale. Me and my partner have to have separate quilts at night as he gets cold under my 'piece of news paper' lol. But it has helped me no end. I hope you find a solution soon. Sleep deprivation is so bad for RA. xxx
I've just read rattasrattus's message and, I forgot, I went to GP asking for sleeping tabs. Now I actually take a quarter of a zopiclone each night, and strangely it has worked! GP said he wasn't happy giving sleeping tabs out but as I only needed a quarter of a tablet it was almost homeopathic.....which I thought was quite funny :o)
