Hiya Josie yes I have experienced this ....it's right in front of your ear and really hurts really upset me ...but honestly it doesn't last long ..I just stayed off of chewy stuff , I think muesli started mine off ..and within about a week it goes , my GP says its very common and it will soon go so don't worry ...Claire x
Same here Josie and like the others I have it intermittingly, staying a couple of days and then drifting off - I managed to eat with little chewing unfortunately,
Thanks for the replies, ive managed some beans on toast lol.
I get that too, but mine is more enthesitis (from spondyloarthritis). Not much fun though. But, its just the same as other joints - if inflammation is being treated properly it goes away.
I haven't experienced this Josie (yet) and do hope I never will - poor you. A close friend who suffers from OA has had it quite badly - especially when stressed and she found she could only eat sandwiches if she rolled them with rolling pin or flattened them with her hands! She too lost a lot of weight but hasn't had it for a long time now. I do hope it's just a one off for you and moves away soon. Tilda xxx
Yes, just had it last few days, my front tooth is loose so thought it was that but now in jaw!!!!!
Bonjela ( yes really) helps my poor loose tooth area but not the jaw. Is lock jaw a Sy ton then do you think?
That's supposed to say ....is lockjaw a symptom then?....
i also had his a few years back b4 i wos diagnosed with RA, the docs thought it wos jauntice because it can affect ur jaw, but i now know that it wos my RA, soo painful, and i cud barely open my mouth but as the others has said it dosent last long, hope ur feeling better soon x
Just wanted to add I have this frequently - my dentist made a mouth guard for me to wear at night - have found this really helpful when my jaw is bad. I just wear it for 1/2 nights in a row and the pain gets better. Always keeps coming back though! although its much less severe that it used to be.
The dentist thing is useful to consider - last time I saw my dentist I asked him about what I could do when my jaw got bad. He actually showed me how to safely "unlock" my jaw if it got to feeling like I couldn't move it. Its hard to describe and you really need someone to show you, but its more about kind of pushing the lower jaw back to get it sitting right. How he showed me to do it definitely wasn't the way I would have done it myself, but he was very good at explaining how the jaw joint sat, and that if you tried to wiggle it the way you thought might unlock it, it could make it worse!
hi josie had this when it first started i though i had got some sort of problems with me teeath then it whent comes back sometimes
is their any part of the body this dosnt have a do at.
how can an imune system be so stupid beats me
some day im going to break somthing and wonder why its not hurting LOL
regards john
I've suffered from TMJ for over four years at the beginning the pain was intense with days of work, I mean so so painful due to the mesh of nerve endings around face. I ended up at Guys Hospital for treatment also had a mouth guard made, still get flare ups now which are really painful, try not to eat hard things on left side, limit stress, I know easier said then done. I know this and my RA and back problems are all related
