Having a hacking cough!

Been loaded with cold for last week and have niticed my joints are flaring madly!

Is this a co-incidence?

I would get that checked out Josie - they could be connected and that could be serious. It may just be that you are run down and flaring as a result but there are complications of our drugs and of RA that can be connected with the lungs so better to rule this out. Seeing your GP asp would probably be the best idea. Tilda x

I agree with Tilda, you need to get checked by your GP. RA is a nasty disease and can cause all sorts of complications with colds and other illnesses. Joints will be affected by colds as the virus attacks the weak spots. My joints always flare up when I have a heavy cold, You need to make sure you don't have a chest infection. If so, the GP will put you onto antibiotics to clear it up. If you are on MTX or anti TNF don't take them until the GP gives you the all clear to do so as some antibiotics can interfere with those drugs.

I find illness goes to my joints do get that cough checked though x

I agree with the other lovely pals - do get your chest checked out, especially if you have a raised temperature or feel any tightness or pain with the cough. I almost always have a flare-up whenever I get a cold or similar and sometimes, if I have a flare-up I then go down with a cold- a case of chicken and egg Usually fairly short lived but my own personal (totally unscientific) theory is that, as the immune system is compromised in both cases, it's not surprising. Don't know if other people have the same experience.

Managed to see doc at walk in clinic today and got antibiotics so hopefully onward and upwards for me.
