Thrush is not just a pretty bird.................

Morning everyone. It is silly o'clock here at ribble towers and i am not a happy bunny. I had to go to the drs last night in a bit of a hurry as i felt quite ill. I wondered if i had glandular problems as my throat and my neck were very sore. Turns out that i have oral thrush which i can't seem to get rid of. I am on nystan again to try and shift it. It has gone down to my throat and it is no picnic i can tell you. I believe i have all the steroids i take to thank for that. I also use inhalers for my asthma another steroid based inhaler to add to the pills i take for ra. Lets hope that this time it will go away. This will be the third lot of creams/drops i have taken to try and get rid of it. When we got home i just broke my heart on my hubbys shoulder. I feel life is just so unfair at the moment. Ra won't kill you, but boy the drugs will in the end.

Oh dear. You probably do this already but many moons ago when Id been admitted to hospital with asthma attack, I was told to always rinse my mouth/ brush teeth after using inhalers. When you see the powder accumulating in the spacer you can imagine why.

I hope you can have a restful day and feel better soon

Morning Sylvi

So sad to hear how awful you are feeling right now. I hope the cream/drops soon start working for you. It brought tears in my eyes to hear how sad you feel. Thinking of you and praying that you feel much better today. x

Thank you ladies, It is just one thing after another with me. I wonder when it is going to end. I am glad you are all here for me as it helps me to know you all care. Love sylvi.xx

I am so sorry you are struggling so much Sylvi. Thrush is a regular "visitor" for me too I know it's horrid. I can also understand so much the "one thing after another" and "when is it going to end" feelings Sylvi as I know so many of us here do. Although it doesn't make it go away I always find that it helps to know that others are going through the same kind of things.

Thinking of you and really hoping this thrush clears for you very soon.

Sorry to hear your feeling down. That little fungus called thrush can stick around for a while especially on your inhalers. Soak them in some diluted household bleach or Milton. Let them air dry too. If you have false teeth do the same with them but make sure you rinse them well of you use bleach, Milton is good for doing your false teeth if you have them.

Carole, you have brought a smile to my face about false teeth. Happily i still have all mine. Thanks about the inhalers, thats something i have never thought about.

Thank you ladies for your wise words. Love sylvi.xx

Sylvi, I do hope it clears up soon and you feel better in general. There are so many aggravations we have to endure that make us feel worse, so it's no wonder we feel down sometimes (and that makes us feel less able to cope too). Lucky you having a shoulder to cry on though!!

Hi Sylvi, Since i have had this steroid in injection ,Which was only about 3 weeks ago, I have already suffered with thrush, It's just not fair you have tablets or injections to help you, then you need more to deal with the side affects, I am really sorry, You have been a real rock for us all, we will a;ways be here for you, Take care Sylvi, Hope things get better soon.

Hi Sylvi

As Cathy mentioned, always rinse your mouth out aafter using your inhalers. Also eating live yoghourt can sooth your mouth etc.

Hope that it gets better very soon

My dear Sylvi, What a bunch of crap! huh? I was just thinking while reading, that I would tell you the benefits of yogurt. Tiger just did. Another trick is to wash your mouth out during the day with dill pickle juice. You could use diluted vinegar, but dill pickle juice tastes better :) It is the acidity that will prevent the yeasts from multiplying. Along with the rest of your treatment, you should be much better very soon. Keep on keeping on, sweetie. Love ya, Loret

Thank you ladies, don't think we get dill pickle over loretta, but the diluted vinegar is worth thinking about.

Wendy my hubby is getting me some live yoghurt today when he goes shopping.

Hope you are all ok. Love sylvi.xxx

Thanks claire, i manage some how. This site helps me so much. When i can't get out there is always someone who will chat with me and i feel useful if i can offer someone else some advice and comfort, because with what we ladies have wrong with us (and it is mostly ladies, but mustn't forget the gents) its no wonder we suffer. Love sylvi. xx
