really bad day

have got RA the pain today is worse than its ever been. from hand to shoulder. feel like cutting my arm off. have had neurofen but not working. stuck at work. help

I am so sorry you are in so much pain and stuck at work. I don't know what, if any, other pain med options you have available to you? I know this won't help much whilst you are at work but I find that anti-inflammatory gel can help take the edge off (but do check with the pharmacist re if/how much you can use if you are taking alongside ibuprofen or other NSAIDs). I also find that Deep Heat or similar can be soothing, even if it doesn't dull the pain (and if you can bear the smell). When my shoulders hurt, I find that a hot water bottle or wheat bag helps as does propping my arm(s) on a cushion. I find that particularly helpful if the pain is travelling down my arm as yours seems to be doing. I don't know what else to suggest but I am thinking of you and really hoping things ease for you soon Becky.

i have found relief from my tens - it can be discrete under clothes and long sleeves - but gets abit of getting used to with the wires! i am office based so its ok for me but may not for more active jobs? hope today is better
