i will do ,, sylvi ... ive only got that low salt , in the house tho... will that still work ?? i suppose ill need the strong stuff now ,,, i guess if i just chuck the lot in ,, that"ll be a good test ..
Now got a wonderful picture in my head of researchers putting teeny, tiny bandages on teeny, tiny mouse legs! Seems that maybe the old wives were right in their tales (again...) Pollyx
Hi Andy, they have been saying for years that Epsom salts added to bathwater helps with joint and muscle pain so I suppose it's the same principle (or is the spelling principal ?). I do believe also that Epsom salts needs to be used with caution in some medical cases.
Might give the knees and ankles a go with bandages soaked in salt water though (can't bath as we got rid of that for a walk in shower instead of shower over the bath - my getting stuck in the bath was looking like it might become a problem).
I bet a bath in salt water is sure to dry out the skin on the body - I can't afford any more 'time lines' ...... the face is bad enough ! (I blame it on the meds.)
on the same page is two other stories ,,, one is a new gadget to beat arthritis pain and another on some new smart drug .. not sure if youve seen these before ... links !!express.co.uk/posts/view/34...
judi.... i was suprised too,, a new study on salt water ??? ,, with all modern science and medicine ,, id like to think some of the research and studies ,, are abit more advanced then mixing some salt in water ..
yes i know polly ,, them wise" old wives "are often right ...
i doubt it was pleasant for them helixhelix - the poor mice were probably injected saline solution directly under their skin
i wonder if the scientists would dare say eating lots of salt would be benificial too? but i can tell you now i like my salt and it makes diddly squat difference to my pain levels.
im highly suspicious of this idea - i think its just another way that the govenment is trying to cut down on spending money on expensive treatment for us.
i will agree that a warm bath (with or without salt) can help ease some people pains but not all of us can get in and out of the bath so easily though.
I remember my mother steeping peas like this, I would be a steeped human. Like most things will probably work for some, whether by placebo or actual and wont work for others. Unlike a lot of things dont really see a downside to trying (unless skin problems or somesuch) as not likely to carry the vast array of side effects our awful medications come with..
May well dump some salt in me bath tonight, will let you know I get on...
i dunno ... ive only got that low salt ... that didnt do much ,, apart from destroy all me bubbles ..
Before you guys all go rushing out to buy salt to put in your baths, I will let you in to a secret and save you money. Salt that you buy over the counter, herb shops, (even dead sea prop), are not the correct salt, it does not work and I have tried it.
What you need to do is go to the Dead Sea and stay there for six months, you will then be clear for six months on your return, how do I know this? I have had Psoriasis all my life and spent a fortunate on anything that was told, written about, and the only thing that relieved it was.................Embrel, what I am on now for my PsA, the one and only other time I had any relief was for nine months when I carried my daughter.
The piece on the Dead Sea, my friends father did this at the later stages of his life as he was fed up with it and took himself over there on retirement and spent six months in the Dead Sea, you bathe for two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon, on his return he was clear but once back in blighty, it returned after six months.
But then if it makes you happy to be sitting in a bath of salt water, you can try it, it's yuk to the skin as it makes it very, very dry as you have to soak for a good 10-20 minutes.
