Lovely weekend.........

Morning all, well i have had an interesting weekend. Hubby took me to hinckley farmers market. It always cost me money when i go to these places. I got a couple of scabias for the garden and i will try and plant them this morning. I like farmers markets as it is a pleasant place to go to. We had a cup of tea and a cake. I brought a two handled cup and saucer, the lady asked 20p for it and i gave her 50p as i felt that 20p was a bit cheap. She was pleased with that. I think i would have still had it if it had been a £1.

We had a quiet saturday afternoon. Went to have a bath and found there was no hot water. Rang our supplier and they came out in the evening and it turns out a circuit board had broken. It would cost £250 to repair. This is ironic as we are having the boiler replaced this week. The engineer said we could have it done if we want, but we said that as it is being replaced this week we wouldn't waste money like that. The engineer was going to see if he could push up the day of our replacement to earlier in the week. We'll see. I will ask for a rebate though as we have had no gas for two days upto today.

Yesterday we went to a parade in warton. Both hubby and grace did me proud again. The funny part of the evening was when i became a traffic contoller to stop the traffic at the junction. I sat in the middle of the road in my scooter with my stick holding the traffic back. My daughter has took the mickey out of me when we got to the club afterwards.

Being there while they were in church i took some lovely photos of the churchyard and the parade and it has given me an idea. I will try and take a few photos and see how they come out. It will give me a hobby, which i think i need.

I am sleeping better at the moment and yesterday i slept in until 9am would you believe. Thats a good lie in for me. This morning my right hand is very painful. I have had this in my hands for days. My middle finger on my fingerprint is swollen and very sore. It feels like i have something in it,but i haven't so i don't know what has caused it. My hand is now sore all over my hand.

Hope you all have a lovely day as the sun is shining.........

Good morning Sylvi.

The sun is shining here also and I'm just waiting for my pills to kick in so that I can have a productive day today. I've bought some grasses to plant in my herb bed to give winter interest when the more tender herbs die back. My cousin has promised to plant them before she leaves tomorrow but we shall see........

We went to a garden centre and farm shop yesterday which had a large car boot sale in the neighbouring field. I am now flushed with success, two big beautiful framed prints to put on my wall, a masonry drill bit and a telephone to plug in upstairs (all a bit random but fun useful and very, very cheap).

I have increased my pregabalin to 75mg twice daily and it seems to be dulling the nerve pain in my spine but I still get awful spasms when I try to stand for too long. Washing the dishes is a challenge. It has been known to take me over an hour to do it as I have to keep stopping and sitting down when the spasms become unbearable. I do have a perching stool but there is not enough space for it in this kitchen without it becoming a trip hazard. Fortunately I been given a dishwasher which will be a great help for days when I really can't manage so I'm now waiting for my DLA increase to come through so that I can get someone to plumb it in. Then all I need is for someone to build a little extension on the side of the house, dig a pond, landscape the back garden, put a slope in the front garden and decorate my bedroom - it's not asking too much is it?

Enjoy your day - rocking chair in the garden?

Yes Judy rocking chair outside today. You don't want a lot done round your house do you!!!! I used to love carboots, but sadly i can't get round them no more. I have a stool in the kitchen if and when i'm in there. Does the pregablin help your ra if so i might give it a try. If i buy anymore plants my hubby would have a fit. How i got away with the two i brought sat. god only knows. I could have brought more, but thought better of it. love sylvi.xxx

Pregabalin is prescribed for nerve pain in my case. Apparently it is quite expensive so the GP was trying other meds first. It reduces the pain when I am inactive but not when I try to do anything.

Hi Sylvi - pleased to hear you've had a good weekend and to read you sounding so upbeat.

Long may it last - read Gina's post on Williby's question if you haven't - it decided me to start living in the present as much as I can. But I'll have to first learn to blot out my husband's endless fantasising about the future first I think! Tilda x

I have just read what you spoke about and i like the idea of peace in the present. I have been busy this morning and i've just had lunch so i am resting for a while then start again. Electrician is on his way to change the meter. So no peace for the wicked.... sylvi.xx

Well I've taken a strong antihistamine that may cause drowsiness and am sewing in my studio Sylvi. I'm on the recliner so if I drop off to sleep

Its fine and I've got so much pins and needles everywhere that I probably wouldn't even notice if I prick myself accidentally! Good luck hope you get your gas/ hot water back today. Tilda xx

in reply to

Hi Tilda,

I've just taken a peep at Gina's post also. Thank you for drawing it to our attention. I too will be pinching to put on my fridge door. A good reminder of where my thoughts should be directed.

How are you feeling now? That pins and needles and itchy feeling sounds absolutely miserable. I do hope the antihistamine helps and doesn't make you too drowsy - are you on a deadline for your art installation? Do you do it all by hand or machine. Sew Tilda, Sew!

in reply to

Hi Creaky - have a peep at my recent question I've updated re pins and needles. Sewing great in theory but in practice I'm too tired just now and finding concentration a bit lacking. We've finished work re the deadline - and yes it's all done by hand. Maybe time for a blog about the artwork if I can just wake myself up? - antihistamine head that's me! TTx

in reply to

Would love an artwork blog from you when you are awake enough. Pictures too? xx

in reply to

Okay will oblige tonight - I need something to occupy me and divert from all the itching and prickling that's still bothering me a bit - prior to next pill popping (antihistamine). TTx

So pleased. You had a lovely weekend I think be will have to make the most of this lovely weather as we know too well the winter is drawing. Closer and closer gentle hugs xx

Sorry to be a killjoy, I have discovered that the sun and heat makes mine worse with PsA and yet the skin (Psoriasis), makes it better, and winter makes the skin worse, either way I cannot win! Therefore I am looking forward to the winter when I should have some relief.

I am really pleased to hear that you are all feeling the good effects of the sun. Hoorah for Sylvie to have had a good nights sleep with in lie in. Have the anti's kicked in yet Tilda and that you are feeling the effects, all to the good.

I see i'm not the only one overdoing it. We have frozen runner beans like mad. Our potatoes have been very poor this year due to all the rain. We have had a good crop of beetroot too. We have been enjoying raspberries as well. Our tomatoes have failed as well. love sylvia.xx

in reply to sylvi

Love runner beans. Used to plant them when I had my home in Sandusky, where I had a nice sized garden behind the garage. I still miss that place so much.

Afternoon girlies, Just got back from the allotment. I have pulled runner beans and raspberries. Then on the way back i called into the charity shop and got some net curtain for the porch. The mind wants to do things but the body won't let me. My middle finger on my right hand is so sore to touch,i don't know what i'm going to do with it. Hubby came back as well and he made a cup of tea bless him. I still have to get the washing in and hoover up down here which is what i was supposed to be doing. The trouble is when you start something there is always more that wants doing.

Ladies i'm going to sit now for a little while. sylvi.xxx

in reply to sylvi

Me too on the sitting front Sylvi. Itching to do more thoughxx

What do you know about growing blackberries. Put mine in this year and they look healthy and have leaves but no fruit yet. Does it take a few years to get fruit or am i doing something wrong! Axx

allanah in reply to sylvi

aagh, thanks, i had been checking regularly and thinking i was doing something wrong!! ta xxxA

in reply to sylvi

Sylvia, You should have that finger checked. Remember, we have such low immune systems, it could be a tiny thorn or some such thing, imbedded and infected. Had that one once myself, but not on the end. In which case, you would likely need an antibiotic to make sure you don't develope sepsis. Don't want to scare you, but would sure not want you to get worse because you didn't have it checked.

It does sound like something is working its way to the tip. xxL.
