Has anyone with RA undergone IVF treatment?

I am interested as I have halted my IVF because the doctor recommended 'i fully understand the implications' of my antibodies before I continued, I just wondered if anyone within this forum has any experience and/or advice.

Greatly appreciated xx

Sorry can't help, but good luck. It must be a very difficult decision. Good luck

Thanks for your reply. I am also going to await the rheumy evaluation before I make a decision.

Have you called the NRAShelpline? They may well be able to put you in touch with someone with that experience. But I wonder what he/she meant? Is the whole issue that with RA our bodies have an over-excited immune system that things the IVF is an invader? Px

That is a really interesting point that you have raised - sorry if it's presenting you with such a fraught dilemma though. I hope perhaps someone can give you the answers you are looking for re RA and IVF. Best of luck. Tilda x

I guess it will be to do with meds. My IVF consultant says there is nothing likely to affect fertility or pregnancy, but thinks its sensible to see the rheumy first. I did a first round of ivf and responded extremely well with lots of good quality embryos produced. But the actual last stage, implantation, wasn't successful. However following that my sjorgrens has had a major flare making my nose very dry hence I've had a chest infection, then my knees joined in (although gp doesn't think that its arthritis) - so maybes this proves the point about RA and hormonal levels?!?! Guessing games but I will ask the rheumy x

Thanks for your response. My husband is an entirely different blood group to my own and both of our tissue types (and various other tests) were carried out prior to us having undergone the first cycle of treatment. I was more interested in the effects of pregnancy on a person with RA rather than the possibilities of becoming pregnant as my consultant and gp have indicated even with my antibodies I still have the same chance of becoming pregnant than a non RA person.
