As some of you know I've had a bad taste/smell for a couple of months now, initially we thought it might be the Sulfa so stopped that but with very little improvement. The read that the generic brand of Plaquenil could be the cuase so have swapped back to the branded Plaquenil - been on that for 10 days now but with little change.
It is better but that could be due to managing what I eat rather than the reaction going.
I saw the rheumy yesterday, he was due to start MTX but wants to hold off until I have seen the ENT specialist to rule out any other probs.
Anyway he decided my left knee was too swollen & so aspirated it getting 20 mls of grotty fluid, it's not infected but he felt it wasn't how it should be - supposedly thick rather thin!
He thought there was more there but put in some steroid to calm it down.
I had done quite a lot of walking last week in Cornwall, as I'm not good at taking things easy - my policy is while I can walk I will!!!
What a shame that the change to the brand of hydroxy you take hasn't helped instantly. But maybe it'll still happen.
Grotty fluid is a good description of the gunk that comes out of your knees! The doc insisted on showing me an extremely large glassful of green'ish liquid. It was bad enough having it aspirated and I didn't really feel the need to look at it afterwards. But mine was quite watery looking and certainly not thick, but loads of it. Anyway hope it means our knee calms down now. Polly
