Im in a very strange mood today. Im full of cold and have some sort of chest/throat infection thing so its safe to say Im not feeling myself. Ive got my last couple of antibiotics to take tomorrow and then it looks like its a trip back to the doctors for me.
I thought I was doing really well not getting a cold since last Spring especially knowing I havent had the flu jab. Everyone told me I should get one but I didnt .. apparently this is what you call 'living life on the edge'.
I was quite surprised at the amount of money it cost me to go and get my tablets the other day. I always knew that there was a prescription charge but I didnt realise it was PER ITEM! Two things cost me £15.30 - I was quite astonished. I have a prescription with about 6 items on it at home which I need to take to the chemist which I dont want to take any more because its going to cost me a fortune! Looks like Im going to have to go and invest in one of these prescription card things so that I dont have to pay everytime I go because I really cant afford it. Its made me react in two ways really: 1) I now treat my tablets like they are gold and are really precious and rare and 2) It makes me not want to take them because they are SOOOOOOOO EXPENSIVE. Never mind eh. What can you do..
One of the main things I dont like about having a cold is that I ache all over as well. My joints, especially my legs, feel really heavy like lead almost. Its almost a feeling that the painkillers cant even get rid of, not even the really good ones. I just cant get my legs comfortable! I'm just about managing though.
ANYWAY.. Im off to go and make myself busy and find something to keep my mind off this horrible cold thing Ive got. Hope youre all well

I know how you feel,i don't feel that clever myself,i feel like rubbish to be honest. I don't want anything this close to my op. If i still feel like this monday i will go to the doctors. Then hopefully it will be cleared up by the 17th.
I have a prescription card and i wouldn't be without it. I have at least 6 prescriptions every month. It cost me about £100 a year, but here is the good news about it. I save about £600-700 a year.
Yes, get a pre-prescription card ASAP! And depending on how often you need repeat prescriptions you can get the 3 month ones, and then have a break for a month, so you only need to buy 9 months very year, not 12. I'm not organised enough, so just do an annual card but it does make me feel more positive about taking the pills as no matter what it's costing me under £10 a month. You can do it online and it's fairly instant.
But don't overdo it if you're feeling rough. Do some calm things as well as busy things. Take care.Pollyx
One good thing I get from having hypothyroidism is free prescriptions! Yes Em you should get yourself a pre paid card. It will pay for itself in no time at all. Take it easy while you're getting over this and hope you feel better soon
