Hiya everyone!

I haven't been on here for a few weeks now, things have just gone from bad to worse - and I am now waiting to have solicitor assigned to me inconnection with the change to my contract and the discrimination agaist my condition.

As you can imagine I have had so many flare ups that my consultant and GP are quite concerned.

My head is all over the place and I have to admit I feel like giving up sometimes - but then I wonder what would happen to all of us - employers shouldn't be allowed to cause people who suffer with medical conditions additional stress and upset, afterall this is not my fault and I really do want to work.

So the proposal is that I work from 8.30am til 12.10pm, but I have to complete the same amount of work that I currently fit into a 6 hour day! And the boss thinks that is a reasonable adjustment!!

I would like to say that my TNF treatment is not being given the chance to work its magic, my ESR has shot back up and my neutophils are low, my mouth is full of very large ulcers and I generally feel yuk.

I just would like this nightmare to end, but somehow I think I have a way to go yet!

I have missed this site so much, its good to be back!

Take care everyone!!!

Hi Penny

I am so sorry that work are not understanding. I think schools have become less interested in their employees, since the recession and as there budget has tightened. More's the pity as they would get better productivity if they showed more compassion & understanding, rather than squeezing their staff.

What is happening at your school is not unique and my school (I am a teacher), is know better. So far the personnel officer has suggested I consider cutting my hrs further and that the school environment is not the best place to be for my condidition - having ra. At present I am holding her at bay as I have been able to answer her illegal queries.

Have any meetings with the school in the presence of a witness, preferrable a union representative. They cannot change your job without your say so, so hold your guns you must agree to any changes. However the head teacher will apply lots of pressure.

Get signed of for a while as I think you suffering from undue stress caused by the school, so go back when you are strong enough, have a clear mind and able to deal with the school.

Good luck

Penny that sounds foul, so well done you for perservering. I hope you get a really ferocious solicitor who will push things for you. No organisation should be allowed to get away with that sort of behaviour, let alone a school. It's disgusting. But you do have to look after yourself too, so Sci's suggestion sounds sensible to give yourself a break. Take care. Polly

Hi Penny

How disgusting that they can get away with it and treat you this way ..

You stand up for yourself and you will come out on top ..As Sci says .. go off sick from work because all the stress is a part of the reason you are having these flare ups

Good Luck

Just wanted to say that it's good to have you back and big soft hug to you for having to go through all this and trying to stay strong and fight 'em. Keep at it and keep coming here for morale boosts. TTx

Thanks everyone - I have had one week off, but my GP reckons that any more time would give them ammunition to refer it to the governors and let them decide if I am fit to work at all - catch 22! ( I have a letter stating this! )

I have missed being on here and know that I would get support form you guys - so thank you!

I will keep you posted more often I promise!

Take care

Hi Penny; good that you are geting solicitor involved; shame that you have to! My employer reduced from 5 to 4 days but I too found that I still had 5 days worth of work to do! So the stress was still there, if not worse. I was lucky cos I retired Dec. 2010 at 63. Miss the money, but best decision I made. Shame you cant leave work altogether or get another job somewhere that really IS part time. Stay positive and don't let them get you down.

Awww Pen that is so so awful, i wish you every bit of luck and support over the next few weeks. I hope you get what you need.

Sending you a big hug xx

Terrible that an employer can treat you like this. What happened to disabilty discrimination? Good luck in finding a good solicitor who will hopefully get things sorted out for you. Wendy x

hi Pen, gosh you and I have been having similiar work problems for a while! mine like yours is still ongoing but I've been signed of until it's resolved as stress may have been a cause for my wcc count to drop and doctor considering taking me of my anti-tnf!!! no way am I going to let work do that to me but I'm glad to say it's gone back up again...

I've been discriminated against, harassed and bullied but if it wasn't for this site and especially info from Beth, I wouldn't have realised it!

Like you, I just want it to end and get back to work...

Take care, big hugs x
