julie.. they look really sore and swollen... have you fluid build up to?.. finger next to thumb looks the worst affected?....cant see any bending.. curling in this particular pic?.... oh back to prednisolone... they affect sleep too!... was up at 530am x
My GP advised me to prednisolone it in the morning as it contains something which gives you a bit of a lift.
Hi Julie
your joints are really swollen, my fingers after carpal tunnel op have gone down a bit. but my little finger is still frozen but I think thats the ulnar nerve.
Theres no way I'm having that done.
love the colour of the nails did you do them special for the pic.
Love Tricia
Sorry this is a picture of my right hand were I have the trigger finger. My finger is permenently swollen like this and Ive lost use off it no ammount of physio, wax baths etc has helped to save it Ive been told the only option is surgery for new finger joints.
Trica no Ive not done my nails for the pic lol, I have my nails done every few weeks as I struggle to paint them etc myself and I see it as if my fingers have to look so bad then I will take the focus away from the swolleness and put it on my brightley coulered nails.
this all baffles me with trigger finger etc ,,,,, my right hand has gone awol not just swollen sorry i dont mean to offend...but have i got the right sight ??? carpel tunnel ?? is this rheumatoid arthritus ?//
julie count your blessings babe a bit of swelling is well a blessing xxxxxxxxx
A 'bit of swelling' is very active rheumatoid arthritis and not a blessing!
Annra thanks I know and realise that others can be in a much worse situation than myself however this dosent make it any eaiser when you are suffering in pain and discomfort, this was not to show of it was requested I summit a picture my other members in a previous blog. I submited the picture not to show the swelling but to try and show the damage it has done, that I have lost use of my trigger finger due to damage from RA. No carpul tunnel is not RA however its a complication that many people with RA suffer with.
My right hand is not just swollen I have lost use of my trigger finger and thumb and my wrist and hand is very weak so I do struggle with many day to day tasks.
I am sorry if you suffer more than me however we all have different parts of our bodys that are worse due to RA, mine is my lower back and knees that are affected most.
I do count my blessings when I see people in a worst way than me, however we are all on here to share our problems and support each other. I hope you are ok.
Can I please ask what damage is done to your hands?
Kindest Regards
Julie xx
Hi Julie
Your hand is quite a mess and it does look as though surgery may be your only way forward. That said hand surgery is very advanced these days and certainly worthy of consideration, not that we all want to end up surgery junkies! It could make a big difference to pain levels and inflammation but more importantly the function could be improved greatly. Who knows you could be back to painting your own nails again!
My hands are a mess (actually most of me is a mess, raises eyebrows sarcastically, but heyho ...) too so understand where you are coming from as regards the discomfort you feel.
Have orthopaedics come up with a plan of action?
