Would our RA bloods say if we has Lupus ?
Bloods: Would our RA bloods say if we has Lupus ? - NRAS
Bloods
I think you have to have special blood tests for that. Some one else will give you a better answer though.I have antiphospholipid syndrome and special tests 12 weeks apart are needed for that
Diagnosing lupus is difficult because signs and symptoms vary considerably from person to person. Signs and symptoms of lupus may change over time and overlap with those of many other disorders.
No one test can diagnose lupus. The combination of blood and urine tests, signs and symptoms, and physical examination findings leads to the diagnosis. ANA blood tests are the most revealing.
The original blood tests done when you were referred to rheumatology ought to have covered lupus I would think, as they don't just accept the initial diagnosis from the GP as to which particular variety of auto-immune condition you have. RA and lupus can overlap, I have both, although the RA dominates.
You can ask for a print out of these tests or see them online if you have access. If you haven't got access to your blood tests online yet, I heartily recommend getting it. You're looking for ANA and anti double stranded antibodies.
The criteria for lupus changed and is now based on nine factors. I know this because for 15 years I was told I had lupus and RA. Then I needed biological drugs and a comprehensive set of bloods were done and I no longer met the criteria. Always speak with the professionals. Happy days!
its almost like all the symptons for RA but they measure blood more, they say you have sticky blood
no, they need to run some further blood tests to indicate Lupus, but it’s not diagnosed solely from the blood tests your Rheumatologist will be looking for other symptoms too the butterfly face rash for example but not the symptoms can vary between people. See your Rheumatologist to discuss any concerns you have
i dont have any concerns, i had no rash, all i had was sticky blood and was put on asprin years ago as i was trying for ivf
