hb bloods: doese anyone know what hb means for blood... - NRAS
hb bloods
Hb stands for haemoglobin, which is basically checking the iron levels in your blood to make sure you aren't for example getting anaemic. I think the normal level is 120-180, but this varies according to age, sex, weight etc etc so rather than looking for a specific number the best thing is really to follow your blood results over time to see how they are changing (or not) and then you can work out what's normal for you. If you just look at the "normal" range sometimes you can frighten yourself unnecessarily as something might look odd when it's actually fine for you. Polly
Hi Polly, i hope i haven't given the incorrect range, i know how much more knowledgeable you are on this than me, but this was what i was given, xx
Hiya HB or Haemoglobin is found in the red cells in the blood, it helps to transport Oxygen around the body, a lack of Haemoglobin means you are anemic, the normal range i was told was between 11.8-16, hope this helps, it was information i was given by my rheumy nurse,
