Hello!! 3 weeks into taking abatacept and having acne break outs. Just wondering if others have experienced this and it’s settled (got better) or if it’s been a problem for people? Nurse said see how it goes and I’m just wondering how others may have experienced it.

abatacept & acne

It gave me dreadful skin problems very sore eczema and I tried steroid cream but it kept spreading plus it didn’t work that well for me so it was stopped. I didn’t get ache so can’t comment on that but the eczema just kept getting worse after stopping it did clear up. But it’s worth noting it’s a well like drug by many people.
Thank you, that’s helpful to know!!
I photographed the spread to show RA consultant, she said rare but known side effect it had to be stopped. I even dropped some of the cream in my shower and it turned the non slip floor into a skating ring so slipped and broke my ankle and fibula. ( bone from knee to ankle )I think that’s right name. The breaks healed faster than my skin did.
I have not experienced skin issues since starting on Abatacept in September 2022. Hope your skin settles soon. Abatacept is usually a very well tolerated med.
I had multiple abscesses on my upper arms whilst taking Abatacept. It also didn’t work well for me either so eventually switched to Baricitinib.
