hi, i’ve been suffering from silence reflux for the last 15 years. I was medicated omeprazol, also take esomeprazol, 40mg in the morning and another 40 mg at night. It has worked fairly well. My main problem was morning and day cough, constantly. Omeprazol was advised by my doctor 15 years ago and I haven’t checked because omeprazol continues working fairly well. However, i heard recently that omeprazol is not good for nobody because of side efects but don’t know exactly which ones and whether that is true. Doea anybody knows more about omeprazol and wheter it still good ? Also suffer from RLS. Thanks
reflux: hi, i’ve been suffering from silence reflux... - NRAS
reflux
you should talk to your doctors as the advice in Chile might be different to that in the UK ( NRAS is a UK charity)
I too suffer this . I’m on max dose of esomprazole . Unfortunately if we don’t use this medication the long term damage of silent reflux can cause more problems. The acid can enter your lungs and do untold damage I know someone on here whose husband had a lung transplant because of silent reflux uncontrolled unfortunately it didn’t work .
Your cough means the medication isn’t working. Maybe a different PPI may help ( I’ve been through them all before I found the right one ) . I also use Gaviscon or peptac after meals and before bed to temper the acid . I’ve been told i need an operation but the long term recovery is too much until Inflammatory arthritis is more settled. Don’t suffer.
I use esomeprazole 20 in morning 20 evening half an hour before I eat
Thanks. Maybe I'm taking a very high dose. I'll check with a gastroenterologist.
Hi Karma, thanks for your post. Sorry to hear the silent reflux is continuing to cause you issues. As no-one on this forum can offer any medical advice, it is best to be guided by your own medical team. Glad to hear that this is what you intend to do; this sounds the most sensible option.
Hope you can get the support you need.
Kind regards
Sarah-NRAS
