Arcoxia unfortunately is known to cause a rise in blood pressure. I would contact your gp, it may be you need to switch to an alternative NSAID

I didn’t know this? I have been in 90mg daily for 10 years- even though NICE guidelines state people should be in 60, my rhuemy didn’t want to change it

I didn’t know Arcoxia caused an increase in BP. My blood pressure was always really low but I’ve been on Arcoxia for around 10 years and my blood pressure has steadily increased, especially when going into hospital for any procedure. No one has ever questioned this. I’m going to now, thank you.

Thankfully, mine has always been ok, even in the 90mg

Hi, I’m interested to know how it helps with your joint problems? I’ve been taking naproxen for ankylosing spondylitis for twenty years but it’s now started to cause me digestive tract problems so I can only take it occasionally. So I’ve been wondering about trying a cox2 instead but I have high blood pressure so that’s not really recommended either!

I was on Arcoxia alongside my biologic and methotrexate for my AS. It is one of the few NSAIDs licensed specifically for AS. I found it very good at reducing my morning stiffness. Unfortunately after being on it a few years, I had a severe stroke at 52, do it was stopped. It did do wonders though.

I agree. Out of all the medications I am on (biologic, MTX, leflunomide and host of painkillers), the arcoxia is the one if I don’t take it, I know pretty much instantly. It works well for me- thus far anyway.

it just gets harder as we get older and accumulate other health problems! Hope you go on ok.
