Just watched a video on this. Dr is prescribing it (off-label) in very low-doses for AI diseases- helps with inflammation & pain? Anyone here taking it for RA?

I’ve been taking this for weight loss for over 18 months it has never helped with inflammation and pain for me unfortunately.

Did you have any side effects? I started it in January and I had quite a reaction to it when I went up to 1mg so I’m staying on 0.5mg. I’m still losing weight but much slower, although I seem to have hit a plateau at the moment.

No I’ve been fine. I was on 4.5 mg but the injections were not available due to shortages so I kept missing doses. Earlier this year they changed me to oral Semaglutide (Rybelsus) which I feel works better. I’m on the maximum dose of 14mg per day. The only downside to the tablets is you have to take it an hour before medication or food so I need to make sure I take it early enough in the morning.

It has definitely helped me - I've been taking low doses for the past two months and there is definitely improvement. Problem is getting my pain management doctor to prescribe it.

It’s the latest weight loss drug that’s taken the world by storm but was actually created for diabetes. Wegovy is the name for the weight loss brand version other names are Ozempic both contain Semaglutide (generic name).

Speak to your rheumy team….but it presumably won’t be licensed to treat RA….so don’t get your hopes up!

In the USA, MD's can prescribe "off label". Rheumy won't go for it- Integrative primary MD, might.🤓

I tried it in very small dose .. and it did actually help my hands … unfortunately ( like all the other drugs I’ve tried so far) it made me very ill … the side effects were horrendous and there’s no way I could continue.
