Hi. I just replied to your last post with regards to what your doctors have prescribed. They will know what you take currently and what mixes with what.
All drugs have potential to cause problems and if they do you will be taken off them but it’s unlikely that you’ll be prescribed anything that clashes. It’s probably best if you stop reading leaflets and hitting Prof. Google and only if you have problems you get in touch with your doctor.
It’s massively stress inducing to frighten yourself with what may never happen so hope you can go and do something nice on what’s left of today!
sorry I was looking for some advice support from other people who may have taken these drugs all at the same time as well, with no ill effects, that was all.
We can’t give that sort of advice. Hopefully the prescribing Doctor knew what medications you were already taking but if you have any concerns go and have a chat with your local pharmacist.
sorry I was looking for some advice support from other people who may have taken these drugs all at the same time as well, with no ill effects, that was all. yes I have spoken to pharmacist - that's how I know about cross reactions, many thanks
I personally don’t take them, but have had patients on them. The n my aim issue is they can cause alter your electrolytes, which is your potassium and sodium. Your gp has access to your blood results, and would only prescribe if these are in range. With electronic prescribing now, it flags up if there is any drug your taking that interacts with what your currently on. They will then do their own risk assessment to check it’s safe. You can rest assured, the health professionals know what they are doing. Every theoretical risk is out there, but I would speak to pharmacy if concerned, rather than searching Dr google.
Hi yes, I have checked with pharmacy, NICE drug interactions and EMC drug interactions and my RA cons, I do not use DR google, the risk is real albeit low..many thanks. please could you tell me which drugs you are referring to that can alter your electrolytes ?? pred/sert/hydroxy ??
hydroxychloroquine can affect the potassium, Sertraline can lower your sodium. If your sodium is lower than 130 then they would be cautious prescribing it.
many thanks, yes hydroxy thing with potassium - that's the low risk of causing a long QT interval, I found a lot of drugs have the similar side effects so I try not to mix too many drugs with hydroxy at the same time, I wish I was not taking hydroxy....too late
