Hi

I've been on it over a year and no issues like you describe so can't throw any light on it I'm afraid, sorry x

Hi Matt, I started Hydroxy in April but have had to stop as I started to get prickly all the time. It feels like I have ants crawling on me and was driving me mad. I had no lumps like you just a generalised redness. Even taking strong antihistamines didn't help which was disappointing as Hydroxy had helped reduce the pain quite a bit. So now I am looking at starting MXT which I am not looking forward to one bit! Hope your skin settles soon. Clemmie

Hi Clemmie Thank You for your reply, I hope it's not the Hydroxy as this is the only one I can get for my RA, I think the Hydroxy is working as far as easing the pain levels but will know in the next 4 weeks. Have a good day. Matt

Hi Clemmie, don't worry about MTX - it really does work. The tablets can make you feel a bit sick for the first few times you are on them but depending on the dose, if you space them out during the day, it is not too bad. I am on the MTX injections which does seem to keep the RA under reasonable control. also on Enbrel (Etanercept). The two of them seem to work quite well for me apart from the odd flare up. MTX is the industry standard for RA (In higher doses it is used for cancer patients but we are not allowed to go higher than 25 mg. They usually start you off at a very low dose and gradually increase - a lot of people are on 10 mg weekly). LavendarLady

Hi Matt, nearly reported you by mistake, still can't get the hang of this new set up!

I've been taking hydroxy for nearly a year now, apart from a tingling of the skin when I've been in the sun, which doesn't bother me now I know what it is, I've had no problems & it's really helped me. x

I was told you could only be on Hydroxy for a max of 6 months! I came off it as it wasn't doing any good and made absolutely no difference to me at all. Pretty useless so far as I was concerned! Lavendarlady

Hi LavendarLady, Thanks for the feedback on Hydroxy I was hoping for something long term as I have IPF and if this does not work or it's a 6 month course then there's nothing else out there for me for my RA, Matt

Hi Matt, I have been on it for a couple of years now, not really sure if its doing much good. For the past year I have experienced lumps under the skin on forearms and thighs, often tender to the touch. Nobody ever seems to be concerned about them. I can,t tie it into starting hydroxy though.

Take care,

Lottie
