Benepali side effects

Hi Everyone,I'm back here again after my previous 8 months with Methotrexate proved unsuccessful. Having seen a fabulous Rheumatologist specialist I was put forward to try a Biologic.

Am on week two of Benepali injections. Yes, painful, but hoping they will help my RA.

Would like to connect with others who take this nd get some tips on side effects.

I just feel a bit dizzy and a have a heachache, an a slight runny nose. Was told this is normal and should subside.

Am hoping this might be the one that finally works. It is a long journey, as we all know to click with a treatment , and I hope you are all doing well on yours.🙃

I’ve been on benepali for 7yrs, I didn’t have any side effects, but they will subside. I presume your injecting into your leg, which can sometimes be painful. I just do my stomach, and experience no pain at all. I leave mine out longer than the 30mins it sugguests. I often take it out the night before and leave by the bedside, except when we have a heatwave as it needs to stay below 25 degrees. It can take 3-6 months, but I had reduced stiffness from my first dose. I have ankylosing spondylitis rather than RA. At 3 month check, I went from struggling to reaching my knees, to touching my toes. Hope you have results soon too. If it still stings you can apply ice to the area before injecting

I’ve been on Benepali for 5 years or so and it has worked well for me, I did have the side effects you are having but they did ease and disappear after a while so hopefully the same will happen for you 🤞🏻

Thanks, for the support. It's always daunting trying a new med, but fingers crossed, indeed!

I was just a bit queasy for a few days and nothing else. I found the syringe delivery easier than the pen and more controllable so nearly painless. It works well for me. Hope that helps .

Thanks. I'll keep trying the jet pen, at the moment. I'll take Benepali out maybe an hour before, from the fridge. I had used the Metojet pen when I took MTX , so try this for a bit longer.

it definitely helps if the pen is at room temp, I take mine out in the morning and use in the evening ( as long as it doesn’t get too warm it’s ok) if you use your leg, try your tummy as I found the leg really painful.

Will do.

I agree with Runrig and Kitty injecting in the leg is really painful but into the abdo no pain. And use at room temperature. I too have a runny nose but am unsure which med is causing the problem.

hi

I have been on benepali for 6 months now, from flaring and having extremely painful wrists and hands and feet I am now relatively pain free and have no side effects. I hope yours settles down soon.

I've been on Benipali for around two years now. I agree it's a painful beast. Try and relax .I remove it the night before from the fridge which I find helps. It took a while but last summer I had the news my RA was in remission. That's the first time in 18 years! I can't recall having those side effects you are having but that doesn't mean they are unusual. We react in different ways. It's early days for you. I hope they go soon.

Been on Benepali for 2 years now and have found it to be the most effective drug for me with life almost returning to normal . The pen injection is a bit more painful than metoject but as many above have said, an hour out of the fridge and in the abdomen and it's bearable. Had headaches for first couple of months but no longer and only ongoing side effect is a slightly run nose but not too bad. Hope it works well for you !
