Hi everyone, I haven't posted for a while. I have RA in my feet, and as I'm sure you all know it is really painful. I have found some socks which are called IOMI foot nurse. They are a bit pricey 13.99 for 3 pairs, but o my goodness they have been a life saver for me, as they have allowed me to wear other shoes without feeling pain and discomfort, and allow me to walk for a while longer than normal. Just need to find something as good for my hands. If you suffer with your feet give them a go, you won't be disappointed.
arthatitis in the feet : Hi everyone, I haven't posted... - NRAS
arthatitis in the feet
can I ask what is wrong with your feet that these socks help please as obviously they won’t suit every condition 😊
Are they compression socks? I have been trying these…but find you need to be a contortionist to get them on & off…& If you you have RA in your hands it’s a painful process….& with any back problems too.
they are compression socks yes. mine are very soft and easy to get on and off
Do they have the toes cut out…,I find all socks are restrictive…but with the toes cut out they seemed to support your foot better.
But if they are soft do they still support your feet…or are they just more comfortable than regular socks?
If there compression socks the advice I was given after a DVT was there no good unless fitted. You get measured for them, so right size is prescribed. I’ve got them for flying but not sure how they could or would do anything for RA unless you’ve a related problem like oedema. I hope a medical member can help.
Same here with my ankle brace , I have to be flat on my back on the bed and bring my knees to my chest to get them on and off and it’s still a struggle, I’ve become something of a contortionist and anyone with RA will recognise the strange positions we have to adopt to achieve things. Anything’s worth relief from the pain though.
sounds brilliant, I have a form of RA in both feet plus damage to a muscle from injury. I’m waiting for an orthotic fitting next week and hoping to be able to walk without limping and intense pain once they are fitted. Due to the muscle damage I have Enthetitis and Tendinitis affecting the same leg and foot so any relief is worth having. I currently wear a firm compression ankle brace which helps with walking but not the RA pain and I’m not sure if I can combine this with the orthotic yet. RA affects both my hands and elbows too so I often struggle to get these things on and off, are they easy to use and wash well?
Haven looked at a site selling IOMI socks, they seem to be geared towards diabetics, with no mention of arthritis. Is it the toeless compression ankle socks for plantar fasciitis that your referring to? The ones I seen seem to be predominantly made of nylon, which I’m assuming yours aren’t if yours are soft. Do you have a link, as I’d be interested, but don’t want to purchase the wrong thing
I’ve seen those socks before and they’ve always been aimed at diabetics although why I don’t know - perhaps someone who is diabetic can help us here. I suppose if you want to there’s nothing to stop anyone who wants to wearing them. I think the tops are just soft - not elasticated so that they don’t give you grooves in your ankles.
I can’t find these on the internet under Foot Nurse.
How can socks help Psoriasis or COPD ? I'm intrigued. Its surely against the Trade Description Act to say things which are misleading so did you find out how ?
You must have looked at different ones to me as they aren’t said to help all that you say. Claiming to help alot of very different conditions seems dubious.
Hi Bagpuss 2021, thanks for your post. I have RA in my feet and it makes walking really painful so I will try these socks. Hope you find something for your hands too.
Challenging ? More like querying, does it say how they help psoriasis as that’d help a lot of people if they did 🤷🏻♀️
Not negativity CC, just people querying some claims, false claims are online everywhere so querying something may stop someone being taken in thinking they will help them.
I also have arthritis in my feet & have had seven surgeries on my left foot. I’m now recovering from a big toe fusion to remove a bunion & a tailor bunion on my baby toe. There’s so many different IOMI socks on Amazon, how did you know which ones to order? Do you take anything for pain?
I also am facing surgery on my feet for bunions, Taylor bunions and crossover toes. Can you tell me a little bit about your surgery please? On my right foot, my second toe crosses all the way over my big toe and ony left foot,my big toe crosses over my second toe. I have blisters all the time due to my toes rubbing together. This makes it almost impossible to wear shoes. This was caused by rheumatoid arthritis.
It’s a tough surgery. Omar 6 1/2 weeks & feel like I haven’t made much progress. Make sure you get a knee scooter. It’s a life saver. Plan to spend at least 3 months not doing much. Farther first 3 weeks, not much pain but very sore in my toes. I think it will be hard to walk because of the tailor bunion removal. It hurts to step down in my surgical shoe. It’s a long, long road to recovery. Good luck. I wish you a speedy healing.
I had some great socks from Primark. They are called walking socks and there are some anti-blister ones. They are cushioned in different places depending which ones you choose. They are only ankle socks though. I checked out the IOMI socks on the Socks Shop. Doesn't make any claims just described as diabetic socks as they have soft grip and comfortable. Some are cushioned. There's quite a few variations of this brand of sock. I might get some as I have problems with socks gripping my calfs and leaving marks. I like cushioned socks as I'm on my feet 2.5hrs at work then long walk home. Trouble is now I've found Socks Shop I've seen loads of other stuff I like 😁
OK Ajay I only asked you a question not disrespectful at all. Once again edited.
You’re losing the point, it’s the claim to help psoriasis ( in your photo) that’s the query.
Interesting, might try these socks. Thx for sharing and info.😊
