Steroid injection in shoulder joint

I had a steroid injection in my left shoulder on Thurs pm (after waiting about 6 months). The doctor administering it, advised me to postpone a forthcoming shingles jab, but I forgot to ask him if I should continue to take methotrexate (due Fri - i opted to skip it this week) and my 2 weekly Imraldi injection, due this evening? Any advice would be welcome. thanks

I’ve never had to stop my MTX or biologics for steroid injections. Had many over the years.

I’ve never stopped any biologics or mtx (when I was on it years ago) for a targeted depot injection of steroids and like Runrig have been on many, many different drugs over the years. Firstly, the injection you’ve had is not systemic and secondly steroids are given routinely and regularly alongside all the RA drugs.

That’s only from experience though so if you need more reassurance either contact your GP or your local pharmacist.

I’ve never had to stop any meds for steroid injections, and I’ve had many over the years.

same as others, never stopped them for steroid infiltration.

Hope it works for you.

I’ve never been advised to skip medication after steroid injections and I’ve had lots over the years, intramuscular, intra-articular (including my shoulder) and intravenous.

That jab is localised so I've had them and still taken meds

Many thanks Angela. I have my shingles jab on 28th Feb (having been advised by the doc in Rheumatology, who gave me the steroid jab last month, to delay having it for a month or so after the steroid jab). I will be due to have my Imraldi injection a few days after and my methotrexate dose, 2 days later, but, in light of your experience, I think I might skip both for just one week.
