Methotrexate

Can anyone tell me if you get bloated on methotrexate injections, I am on my fifth injection and my stomach looks so bloated. I know we've just had Christmas but I look like I've eaten the house.

Sadly I did eat a house over Christmas so while I have bloat and am on MTX, I can't justify linking the two as cause and effect. I notice you're around the same age as me and I do find that I generally bloat more these days than I used to.

Thanks for the reply I had lost a lot of weight recently and while I enjoyed Christmas I seem to have gone up at least two dress sizes within two weeks, but just on my stomach

Ah in that case, it'll be mostly water weight. I always get this when I have been on a diet and then 'let go' for a few days. I'm sure it'll fall off in no time.

Not had that happen but mtx injections bypass the stomach so it’s probably more likely to be something else that you’ve eaten.

Thanks for the reply I have changed from the tablets to the injection because of stomach problems so didn't expect this.

I changed from tablets to jabs because of stomach problems. But after a few jabs I got gastritis so had to come off it too. If it carries on or you get pain too ring your Rheumy nurse.

I use to get a lot of bloating on injections in my stomach. So I stopped injecting in it and only do left then right legs alternating each week. Works for me. Good luck.

I had many problems with my gut on methotrexate - ulceration, and overactivity mainly - and had to change medication. I had not realised how much I was suffering until it stopped!
