winter/cold affecting psoriasis

As the temperature has considerably dropped over the recent weeks I have notices my psoriasis flaring up, but being more painful then normal and being externally cracked and itchy. I already suffer with really bad itching which I take 180mg of fexofenadine twice a day for but it doesn't seem to be helping this. I am also on 40mg of adalimumab once every 2 weeks, however my psoriasis is just getting worse. I also use a fair amount of creams regularly including betnovate for my scalp psoriasis and double base gel as a good moisturiser, along with a long list of other creams such as hydrocortisone cream and enstilar.

I can't get in to see my GP until after the new year (just typical for the NHS), but I go on holiday and skiing (where its meant to be around 0 to -4 degrees celsius in the resort) for Christmas and new year - 24..12.23 to 1.1.24, and I am struggling to event move without pain or my skin/psoriasis cracking or splitting. does anyone have any tips or advice on what I can do to help relieve it even short term. the hydrocortisone cream works but I'm not meant to use regularly for more then 4-7 days max. I just need to get to the new year and Im unable to take my adalimumab until the 14.12.23.

thanks in advance

My psoriasis is flaring right now too. The steroid cream knocks it on the head but as soon as I stop it flares again. I hadn't thought about using Vaseline. although I will have to buy a new pot of it because our vaseline has been transferred to the poultry first aid cupboard to use on the scabs when the cockerels get into fights!

I actually use emu oil for my whole body it stops them going hard and solid and bleeding and it’s 100 percent natural. I’m in similar position got more chance of winning lotto than seeing a dr you got stop them getting cold it’s a trial and error thing if they itching if it’s not something you using it could be the medication that are causing it. Years ago as a kid used to help being in the sunbed but i used to suffer badly with prickly heat so that didn’t help.

Aaw, I've got psa, but affects my joints more than my skin, but, I've found the hotter I get the more I itch, particularly my arms. It's cold so put a jumper on but then start itching & bleeding all up my arms 🙄 like a vicious circle.

The chemist gave me anthisan as with my meds, hydroxychloroquine, etoricoxib, gabapentin, sulfasalazine it's about the only thing I can use, it works for a bit so does help, I also rub hydromol in.

Hope you find some relief soon x

I have psoriasis I use Cbd ointment for the pain and skin . This is the first summer I have had all my toenails and the skin is intact apart from a patch between the toes . My head which is normally the part to start I now use body shop black castor oil shampoo and conditioner . I have actually grown hair being post menopausal and on methotrexate I have loads of new curly hair , even the hairdressers impressed . It’s anti fungal and ant inflammatory .

I find this has kept me going so far this year .

Wish you well
