pip renewal

hi all, my pip was up for renewal the middle of next month and the form was completed and returned in March. After a very stressful few months I received a letter yesterday stating that they were still receiving the form and that I would be receiving it for another year. They said they might review it before this date or after. I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them? If so, what the outcome was?

Thanks guys.

Sorry I meant reviewing, not receiving!

Thanks Ajax. Mine said they might review before or give me another year. Good but limbo again.

Yes that would be nice! Can they stop it if reviewed before do you know?

I think it’s probably a backlog so they extend it so your benefit isn’t stopped when it would have ended, it’s giving them extra time but yes it does leave you in limbo as they will complete the review at some point, could be soon or could be a while 😔

I received that same letter and about 4 weeks later an actual award letter

Really?! That’s great news for you. Hopefully it will be the same for me. 🤞

Wasn’t the outcome I wanted. Loosing my mobility car that I’ve had for 15 years. I’ve appealed so hopefully will hear something back soon

hi Rachel, may I ask how old you are? I've heard that if you're over a certain age they don't continue to award mobility via PiP as it is presumed that you will be less mobile as you get older.

I’m 52

oh no, that’s dreadful. Sorry to hear that. It’s all so stressful isn’t it? Our lives are in their hands x

My review was due in October last year and I hadn't even received a form in August so I called them. They sent out a form and a letter separately saying my current award would continue beyond October and the review had been delayed. I finally had the award confirmed in April. They have a huge backlog sadly. Good luck with your review.

It’s such a worry being in limbo isn’t it? Did you have an interview? Thanks for replying 🙏 xx

No they just went off my form and other paperwork. I had my first interview by phone in 2020 so I was worried I'd be called for a face to face but it ended up with no interview at all. It's a long time to wait especially when you rely on the money xx

That’s good. I quite agree, very much so. I’m pleased for you x
