Truxima side effects

does anyone have horrible stomachache and gas after taking Truxima? I swear you and smell the medicine seeping out of my skin too. I have an extremely sensitive nose. It’s driving me crazy.

I never had that happen to me with Truxima. But the drug does make you more susceptible to infections. Do you think you may have one which could be causing those effects?

I have not had Truxima but had the original product Rituximab. It was odourless. I have always said that Rtx heightened my already very keen sense of smell and taste. Often biologic meds can do this and so can many meds like antibiotics and NSAIDs. Wondering if you like myself have got this super sensitivity that you can smell how it’s affecting your body. Chemotherapy and biologic immunosuppressants are said to often change a person’s body aroma so could be that rather than the med itself smelling. Also Rtx and its biosimilars can make you perspire more and even if it’s not a sweating smell it still might be an unusual smell for you that your nose is very sensitive to. Ask your rheumy nurse if Truxima has a smell.

I inherited my Mum’s bloodhound sense of smell! I could smell strong cheese a few years ago, when we were gifted a French cheese hamper, when I was upstairs in the bedroom, through three closed doors and the closed fridge door. It drove me mad. Your body chemistry could be altering though due to the biologic affecting secretions of the med through your pores? As I said, my sense it smell and taste heightened so very much more on Rtx.

Yes, I used to get this for a few days when I first started having Rituxumab a few years ago.

When I changed to Truxima about 3 years ago , it does happen but not quite as bad, I lose my appetite as well for a few days, when I usually get the steroid like munchies.

If you've had the infusions fairly recently it should hopefully settle soon, but maybe contact your helpline if have one, if it continues?
