Hi,I just received my first (Hyrimoz) Adalimumab Injection Kit,

I'm really nervous to start 😬

Does anyone have any good experiences with this medication that can help ease my anxiety?

Humira (Adalimumab) was my first biologic. It stings when you inject. I found taking it out of the fridge for a while to allow it to warm up helps and also injecting into tummy is better than thigh. It gave me some rotten headaches but only for the first 3 injections then after that no side effects at all and it started working within days of the first injection. I was taking it for 18 months and it worked very well but then it stopped working for me. But it was great whilst it worked and I would be happy to be on it again.

Good luck, I hope it works well for you.

Sadly Adalimubab didn't work for me, however while I was using it, I was grateful for the advice I got on here about how to administer the injections relatively painlessly - as that was my main anxiety when I started with it! Firstly, take it out of the fridge a good hour before using it, and preferably warm it up further to body temperature under your arm pit. Then, I found using a small gel ice pack on the injection site before and after injecting a complete game changer! Also experiment with where you inject. I have plenty of soft fat on my thighs, so that worked best for me.I am currently having to inject blood thinning medication in my stomach because I'm in hospital for something else, so I'm using the ice pack trick and it's still working a treat...

Best of luck and I hope Adalimumab works well for you.

Hi, I have been on Amjevita for three months now and it’s not doing anything for me yet but the injections are so easy and for me pain free, I do them in my abdomen after using the alcohol wipes and that’s it, though the first three injections gave me an itchy rash at the site this has now disappeared, I really barely feel the needle, I’m surprised at how easy it is, I just wish it was having some effect!

Good luck.

I started on Idacio ( adalimumab) just over a year ago. Within a few days I felt so much better. Well worth overcoming any discomfort of doing the injection itself.

I can understand how nervous you are as I was the same when I was prescribed Idacio. I’ve now injected it 4 times and it’s absolutely fine. I take mine out at least an hour before I’m going to inject and always do it in my fat round my tummy. I’ve had no side effects so far and it seems to be working .

Take it out of the fridge and let it warm up for about 15 mins so it does not hurt.

On your thigh, draw an imaginary cross top to bottom- torso to knee. Inject top right(bum)quarter and it does not hurt so much. It does work I was on it for ten years. Good luck ❀️

Started on Humira in 2006, now on the biosimilar Amgevita. Initially we had real injections with chunky needles, the pens are so much simpler. It has been fabulous for me. Before it I could hardly walk and couldn't pick up a cup or use cutlery. I have been fully mobile ever since it kicked in. No flare ups, niggly pain at times but I lead a full life doing whatever I want to. At the moment I an waiting for snow so I can get skiing. Don't be nervous, you won't know if will work until you try it. The injections are just a priprick that you get used to very quickly.

Hi there. I have been on several DMARDs before and I have experienced a lot of unplaisant side effects. However, I've had no side effects whatsoever on adalimumab and I have been on the injections for 3 years. You get used to self inject and eventually, you just do it without a second thought. So don't be anxious and look forward to feeling better! πŸ™‚

It's great ! It's been working really well for me since I first started injecting in April 2022. As others have said, the first injection takes a bit of nerve but then you get used to it.

I hope it works well for you.

My biologic changed my life when I went on it over 10 years ago... Still on it and still have only occasional rheumatoid flares.... best thing that happened to me. Am so grateful I was sponsored to have it before the NHS took over my treatment.

Hope yours works as well for you!

Been using the pens for about 6 years now and have never had a problem. I would say for me Adalimumab works better on my arthritis than my psoriasis but still a life changer.
