It does seem quite common. I've had this in the past, but stopping the methotrexate and having a repeat test sorted it out. But then I stopped the methotrexate for other reasons - and I have still had it occasionally. I think that's just what happens sometimes with the Rheumatoid Arthritis which can, of course, also affect the production of blood cells as well as all the other lovely things it can do to the body.
I'm sure that they will sort it out for you either it will right itself, or you need to change medication...
Try not to worry yourself - it’s easily remedied. I had a platelet count of 8 and was treated with high doses of steroids in hospital and had to stop the Methotrexate and the biologic I was on. My platelet count returned to normal pretty quickly and has remained steady ever since. They’ll soon find a drug that is suitable for you. Goes to show the importance of regular blood testing.
