I just went to go to get my vaccination. List as they don’t do vaccinations there anymore

Looking at my list my pneumonia jag is 2 years late

You are supposed to get booster every five years

Phoned nhs vaccinations helpline

Pneumonia jags restart next year

Anyone know if I can do it myself or just wait

I would love to have all vaccinations as I’m going to Thailand

As I have ra and lambert Eaton

I would chat to your GP. I asked for a pneumonia vaccine myself without prompt and there were no issues.

I thought pneumonia vaccine lasted for life . When I asked if I could have mine I was told I had mine when I was 60 , I didn’t even know and it must have been given with the flu jab now I’m 70 I asked for shingles vaccine, I got that , then I said can I have another pneumonia vaccine, no they said , the one you had ten years ago will last for life . It’s all confusing , isn’t it

you get two jabs if your under 65

If your over that age one jab for lifetime

Younger than 65 two jabs

One then 5 years later

My first one lasted 10 years others last 5; It depends on the type of vaccine

Your GP should be able to give you the vaccine. Good luck.

I had my pneumonia vaccine about 8yr ago, when I was in my late 40s. I was told that it should just be a one off. She said boosters are only needed in those with spleen issues or chronic kidney conditions. I had not long recovered from double pneumonia, and was offered it along with my flu vaccine due to being asthmatic and on immunosuppressants.

I was told that my pneumonia vaccine was for life, no booster needed. I was given it about 15 years ago before I started taking biologic medication. I asked my rheumatologist at my last appointment if I needed a booster given the elapsed time and he confirmed no.

I had a second pneumonia jab six weeks ago. Mine was arranged by immunology but they’ve used it to check how my immune system is working. It’s been about five years since my last one however I failed that miserably so don’t know whether this one will work or not. I’m awaiting results of it. I think it depends on your condition. My friend has MS and she has been told the one she had years ago is for life. My husband who’s had double pneumonia this year has been told by GP that they won’t give him the jab until he’s 65 but he doesn’t have an AI disease.

Not necessarily needed every five years as it's judged individually. I had one many years ago and don't need
