I was rushed into hospital on Saturday morning with pneumonia (though my bra was causing the pain) but the pain still got worse I didn't think you could get Pneumonia after having the injection, anyway whilst they were doing the tests they think I've got scaring on the lungs and sent me for a CT scan today (Monday) so now can't sleep as everything is going through my mind. I've told the Dr about how out of breath I get, seems it's just either rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, so no help there, so if nothing else good comes out of this Pneumonia at least I'm getting a answer at last. Also I've to stop taking Methoraxate until they can find out more about things. Let's see what the next steps will be. Hope everyone is ok. (as much as we can be anyway) and this lockdown hasn't been to hard on everyone.
Pneumonia: I was rushed into hospital on Saturday... - NRAS
Pneumonia
Poor you that must have come as a shock. RA itself can cause lung damage and so can MTX. I had a number of chest infections on MTX and a partially collapsed lung and scarring was the result. But you will get better in time and your consultant will find a new drug to give you control your RA. Take things easy and get lots of rest to help your recovery.
Thanks Lolabridge. Yes definitely was a shock. The Dr said that both the things could be from the Methoraxate or the RA they just need to work out what now. Just hoping that they have found it in the early stages rather than the later stages, I knew that something wasn't right, but more or less was told that it was a normal aging process made worse worse by the RA. 😟
Poor you.. I've had pneumonia a couple of times and it hurts! Hope you are on the mend now, and the CT scan shows nothing to worry about.
The pneumococcal vaccine protects against the most common types of bacterial pneumonia - but there are others, and viral pneumonia, that it doesn’t protect from.
You poor thing, wishing you a speedy recovery!
I wish you a quick recovery
I have been ill all year with chest and lungs. I am having another ct scan this Saturday to see if i can go back on ra drugs. I hope you recover quickly.xxx
Poor you - painful and worrying. Not good being an inpatient just now. But on the bright side it seems that the medics are ‘sorting out’ your symptoms carefully. Which may have taken a very long time otherwise...
So sorry to hear what you have been going through lifeboatann and wishing you the best. Take care and sending some supportive wishes xx
Wishing you a speedy recovery xxx
Speedy recovery 💐
You poor soul! I hope that you get well soon. You are in the best place they will help and you will get an answer. Take care🎄
Oh rotten luck. Yes, it does hurt doesn't it? I hope you get successful treatment quickly. Be kind to yourself
Yes it a shock the problems RA can cause as it's a full body problem not just joints as people think. Get well soon xx
hope you feel better soon 😀
I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, it never rains does it!! Hope you'll be feeling better soon. xx
Update on my Pneumonia, I've to go and get another CT scan tomorrow, and if everything is ok they might take me off the antibiotic injections and put me on the tablets, which means that I should be able to get home. But in the meantime it has transpired that a Lady that was on the ward has been diagnosed with Covid. So now we face a 14 self isolation(we've all been tested for the virus) 🤞🤞🤞🤞 Hopefully I'll be home to do my isolation though, will see what tomorrow brings. ❤️
Good news and bad news eh... although with pneumonia perhaps better to be better before you go home??? Do you have someone/help at home 🥰
Hya bubblyalex.. what they are doing is trying to sent people home asp so they can empty the ward and do a deep clean, but they are making sure that everyone is healthy enough first and has support. I couldn't go for my CT scan as not allowed out of the ward, so they can tell enought from the first scan to tell me that I have inflamation on the lungs and scarring to the lungs, so now given me steroids and antibiotics to help with that and the Pneumonia and Pluresy. Then after the self isolation there setting up x-rays and another CT scan to see how bad the scarring is. Going on a tablet to help strengthen my bones to. Definitely not allowed the Methoraxate anymore though. So have to see what they can put me on next. I'm lucky enough to have my husband to look after me, he's been out and done a big shop, as he'll have to isolate for 10 days with me.
Oh gosh. What a mess this Covid is making of all this. Good luck and let us know how you are.
