hi guys, well I applied for pip about 2 months ago and I got a text this week saying I have a telephone call, assessment call to discuss my application. I was wondering if any of you know what kind of questions they might ask? I don't think I will get anything but I was persuaded to apply by my kids. Thanks Guyfro listening take care.

I was convinced would not get anything but the call and discussion on how much life had changed made me realise with the phone call assessment.

I also felt my call was handled well and it was followed up 2 weeks later with the opinion award.

the questions are based around the ones on the form but worded in a way to understand your challenges. Don't be afraid to explain what things are like for you particularly challenges. Take your time and if you are being rushed, say so. If you don't understand a question, ask they to reword it. Remember no matter how friendly they may come across, they are there to collect information.

Good luck 👍

I had a telephone assessment. Again like you I didn’t expect to get anything. Like Deeb says it wasn’t until they went through the questions and my answers on the form I’d filled in that I actually got very emotional while talking to him. It hit me how much my life had changed in such a short time. Work on your worst case scenario, tell them about your worst pain and days, tell what you cannot do and why. Let’s face it we all have a good day now and again but I’m sure we have more bad days than good, I do. Good luck, and if you start to cry going through it all, just cry don’t hold it in. That’s what the assessment is for, to get it across how this disease affects us not only physically but mentally too. Xx

My only advice would be to focus on what you can’t do/ need help with/ need aids for, rather than focusing on what you ‘can’ do.

You receive points for limitations not diagnosis. Also try and remind yourself what has changed..

You may be asked about how you are holding your phone, and they time how long it takes you to change hands. They'll ask how you prepare food and drinks or does anyone prepare them. Also does anyone help you wash and dress yourself, does anyone prepare your medication for you and do you need reminders to take it and reminders to eat/drink. How do you manage household chores or does someone do them for you. How do you travel to go to appts, shopping. Be careful because they can ask the same question more than once.
