I have had a bladder prolapse for many years never been examined my fault. Since i had a knee replacement in February for some strange reason its bothering me. Loss of bladder control and low back and pelvic pain. Ive had a telephone appointment with my doctor who is going to fit a ring in October. Ive looked it up and apparently one of the issues with this procedure is risk of infection and on-going infections. My concern is being immune suppressed should i be taking this risk. Xxxx thank you

Prolapse
Having your knee replaced probably means your posture has changed and aggravated it . I had a ring fitted stood up then it fell out 🙄😵💫. I had a repair done instead.
I used to renew them for patients, but they had to be sized correctly by the gynaecological team first. It is sterile when it goes in ( patients at home used to boil them)! Think risk of infection is low. Good luck
I have had a ring for some years and get it changed every 4 months. In the early days I had a GP who had specialised in gynaecology and he used to fit it. More recently it has been done by the practice nurse. Never had any problems with infections.
there is a risk of infection with every procedure, there’s no getting away from that. For many prolapsed bladders themselves increase the risk of infection. I would have it done, and improve your quality of life. 🤗
I have had a bladder prolapse for a few years and was put off having a ring fitted by people telling me of infections. I gave in last year when my GP (lady) fitted one. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Provided it’s the correct size and I was prescribed a hormone pessary that has to be used twice a week , I’ve had no infections and have it changed every 5 to 6 months. Please give it a try.
I had a 'Hodge' pessary, but found it uncomfortable and not very successful. I then had a repair (using a sling made of my own tissue not mesh!) which has cured the prolapse. But it altered my sensation in that area, making intercourse much less pleasurable. I don't know if that's impotant to you, but I was not warned that might happen and I was not very happy about it.
I had a ring fitted 6 months ago. It took 3 goes to get the right size- the first 2 fell out. However it changed my life. I’m on a waiting list for a repair but I’m seriously considering cancelling because this has made such a difference. No problems with infection yet.
thanks what good news wish id had it done a long time ago xx
hi I have prolapse too and that was the issue I found in my research hence why I haven’t had one fitted.
