I have PsA and just been through a flare ,settled a bit now ,on MTX and just had it reduced from 17.5 to 15 as nausea and vomiting was a problem,Had appointment with rheumatologist yesterday and she thinks I have fibromyalgia which I have long suspected.also this week I have seen a clinician about a swelling at front of neck ,she thinks it’s a goitre on my thyroid but bloods have come back normal, not sure what happens next on that one . I suffer from constant hot flushes and sweats and other things associated with menopause, daft thing is I went through that in my fifty’s I am now 68 and had to come off Hrt after heart attack 5 years ago I am going to have a conversation with doctor on 1st September about going back on some form of Hrt. WellI have a few other issues such as depression (I wonder why)but at the moment feeling overwhelmed with it all and like everything is out of control. Thanks for reading I would welcome any advice .

Did the medics say what their plan of action is about your thyroid? Maybe an ultra sound might be a good idea if you've not had one already. I've a slight goitre and I had it scanned, I found it weirdly relaxing !!

Its worth asking about the HRT, things are changing all the time with HRT so there might be a new medication that's OK for you to try.

Not just with arthritis but everything in the world at the moment i find it can all get a bit much. Trying to find ways to release the tension. Thinking tai chi !

You are not alone xx

Hiya, sorry you are having a bad time of it at the mo.I had a goitre for several years with normal bloods at every test. I saw a thyroid consultant who told me that normal bloods and thyroid readings in the norm range are not necessarily the norm for every individual. Can you get referred to a thyroid clinic?

Sweats, low mood can be symptoms of poor thyroid function as its a hormone thing . Together with dry skin, fatigue . I had all of those and put it down to menopause but it was poor thyroid functioning, so maybe you need to find out more ? Maybe ask your gp for a referral to thyroid specialist ?

All the best 🙂

It can be very overwhelming on days or weeks but we are all here too to listen to a rant or why why why post!I have RA with Reynauds and Fibro and a few other issues all in the space of 3 years and I felt i Had lost me a while back.

Fibro I struggle more with at the moment as the pain and itchy skin I get with it seems more constant plus lack of sleep and finding medication that works for fibro is hard.

Big hugs x

Butting in on this thread but I’m having the same problem. I have RA, Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Fibromyalgia and finding the Fibro a problem at the moment. Lack of sleep is a nightmare. I’ve tried Pregabalin, Gabapentin, Amitriptyline and now Nortriptyline. The last 2 affect my speech if I try to up the dose so I sleep , so I’ve been stuck on 1 a night. Have just upped it to 2 and getting a bit more sleep but I’m stuttering again. Can I ask what you are taking?

Life can suck as they say all I can do is send a 🤗Regarding the depression found with RA was unable to shift it with usual methods so did use antidepressants prescribed by GP, not on them at present. Apparently the inflammatory nature of the illness also adds to the brain which can lead to depressive feelings.

Obviously you're being assessed all round so hope things get sorted asap . & start feeling better

😊
