Off Topic Winter Flu Jab Boots appointments

Hello all. Feels strange posting about this at the start of another heatwave, but here goes!

Just wanted to pass on that Boots have opened up their booking system for Winter Flu Jab appointments, as I know that a number of people on here choose to go this route rather than via their GP surgery for various reasons. I’ve managed to book my Dad in for end of September so was happy with that. For those that are not aware, you can book an appointment with any of the pharmacies that offer this service, and still receive the flu vaccine free of charge, as long as you can show you meet the NHS eligibility criteria. 😀

Thanks for sharing this. Despite the heatwave , it's a timely reminder. Take care and stay safe in this heat x

I once bought a job lot of de icer reduced to 25p one August some years ago now, at the time everyone laughed and said fancy thinking of that in the Summer. Well they weren't laughing that Winter as it was a bad one and I handed out cans to some who scoffed. So same with the flu jab, sometimes it's best to be prepared early, have that reminder and have such information to hand.

Thanks for posting this as it is really helpful to know and I am not sure how the GP's are going to roll the vaccine out in the same way if they are having to roll out an autumn boost covid vaccination for the over 50's too. Especially my surgery who I used to sing their praises but now you are lucky if you can get through, let alone speak to a GP. Always good to have a plan B up our sleeves. Hope you are keeping ok? I am 'lurking' in the comments at the moment so try to read posts as they come a long. xxx

Sorry to hear about the situation at your GP surgery Pippy, sometimes it feels like everything is far more difficult than it should be doesn’t it? I’m plodding along, thanks for asking, three weeks into the school holidays now so finding myself dreaming of a quiet house, a cup of tea, and whatever I want to watch on the TV! No seriously, we are having a (mostly) lovely time. Big hug to you, miss talking to you on here. 🤗

Yes! Exactly why I booked in with Boots we have the same problem with our surgery. They used to be excellent but are being looked at by the CQC for the 2nd time on 6 months because of the complaints.

Thanks for this. I always go to my Pharmacy. They send for me but I like to get in before it gets too busy so I will ring today to see if they have opened theirs yet.

Thanks for that. Have you heard about whether they’re offwering the Autumn Covid vaccine as well?

Hi. Yes I happened to look at boots flu jabs on Monday and got ours booked in for 21st September. I’m hoping by then they will bring in adding the Autumn COVID vaccine to do at the same time. 🤞
