It seems to vary from area to area so I'd contact them if I were you. Mine did contact me but I'd already had it done (for free) at the local pharmacy. When they later contacted my husband, the appointment was still a couple of weeks away so I rang the pharmacy and they said that he could go straight round and have it done immediately, so he did.

Well contacted my gp seems i may have not been included in the eligibility as I'm not over 65 few years to go before I'm 65 lol,so now awaiting a call back from the nurse, as I've tried to book online with various pharmacies but none available

You should have the pneumonia jab too; I finally got mine a couple of weeks after the flu jab having waited since last November 🙄 Good news is that it lasts 5 years 🤣

I would ring your gp and inform them that now your eligible for flu jab because of your condition and then after that they will inform you every year to book one

in reply toessexgirl

Thank you have know contacted gp awaiting call back from the nurse ,missed the eligibility as I'm not over 65 ,

I wasn't over 65 either when I had the first free flu jab. It's your health issues that give the eligibility not your age

in reply toGnarli

Hello ,totally agree with you maybe I slipped through the net ,as I wasn't getting anywhere with trying to book with my local pharmacy as I'm not over 65

Yes .. it is your health conditions and not just age. I just had my first pneumonia vaccination and my flu one will be in a week. My rheumy and respiratory consultant said I should have been having them for a few years given I am on Rtx and Mtx and also get regular bronchial catahhr wheeziness which can turn into chest infections, as as result of Rtx so I’m eligible even though I’m 60. The rheumy should give that authority to the GP for the first time and then you should get a text or call every year I’m told. My rheumy didn’t confirm to my GP as everything went upside down this year, but it took a lot of doing and I had to ask the receptionist to look in my notes and see letters from my consultant that I was classed as an immunosuppressed patient! She wasn’t prepared to do so or go any further and would have left me stranded, but I asked to speak to the GP practice manager and she immediately looked on my notes and saw a letter from my respiratory consultant and she says that was enough confirmation and booked me in for both. Think the younger women I spoke to was not in the know! Probably didn’t have access to all notes? Also a new GP I spoke to the day before to confirm I was eligible so I could phone to book the vaccinations failed to give me the approval in my notes, I was told. 🤨 A frustrating day or two chasing on the phone. I like to be organised and feel frustrated when I hit brick walls! 😝 Sometimes you have to keep chasing and it’s hard. Eventually got a result. x

I must have been very lucky. After my asthma was diagnosed following the copd it's all happened automatically.

I hope I’m now in the GP flu register. No more crazy discussions as to why I think I should qualify!

I've learnt about chasing 🤔,when i had my reaction to sulfsalazine this year ,but good news is that I'm getting my flu jab on monday ,

So pleased to read you are now booked in for your flu jab on Monday. I was very lucky as my rheumatologist in her last clinic letter to GP and me also added that I should be having the flu jab when available. I was possible one of the first under 65 flu jab patients with my GP surgery. I have been going for fortnightly bloods at GP surgery too and they ask me every time if I have had the flu jab bless them. x

in reply toSummerrain14

Me too ,I suppose being under 65 could be easily missed, bloods being done at my Gp surgery but no appointments until the end of November 😒 so hospital for my fortnightly bloods tomorrow which im a little anxious about as there is covid there...but I suppose there is covid everywhere but not broadcasted on specific places such as streets which numbers etc ..so for now mask on tomorrow bloods in and out x

Definitely contact them. I’ve had RA for 2 years and despite them getting numerous letters from my consultant and having the flu jab in the previous 2 years and the pneumonia jab I still don’t have “the icon” on my records!!

in reply toFerret18

Seems so many people are having the same problem with not being over 65 but have RA ,but good news spoken to my gp all booked in fir the flu jab on monday

I have to contact my gp myself every year. This year they were doing flu jabs for over 65 only up until end of November (they were unsure if there will be any left for me) so I booked mine at my local pharmacy and got it done in September.

Hope you get included and tell them why you need to be. I would phone the GP practice ASAP. If they hesitate ask to speak to the GP and they should have a letter from your rheumy and your current RA meds. I’ve just had to do it.

in reply toNeonkittie17

Good news I'm all booked in for monday but will speak to nurse to make sure im included in next years list
