"People who take a widely used medicine to suppress their overactive immune system may respond better to covid-19 vaccines if they come off the drug for two weeks after being immunised.
Having a two-week break from the once-a-week drug methotrexate – taken by more than 1 million people in the UK alone – gave people with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis double the antibody response to their third vaccine, compared with carrying on with the treatment as normal, a study found.
The break was linked to a temporary worsening of symptoms, but this was generally modest and manageable with other medicines, such as painkillers."

At each covid centre I went to they weren't interested in my meds and after each vaccine I was told to continue as normal - lot of conflicting info out there🙃
I think this was the Vroom study. Only a small study as they started rather late, but I am not surprised by the results. Our rheumatology team were adamant that we should stop mtx for 2 weeks for the flu jab, but not for the covid jab. Seemed ridiculous to me
Thanks for sharing the article. I’ve found flu jabs and covid vaccinations put me in a flare and uncontrolled disease is a factor I suppose whether we have to stop meds or not. Conflicting evidence everywhere but think I would go with rheumys advice. I have no idea whether I’ve amounted a response to any of the vaccines and I wish that testing was available to those of us with severely compromised immune systems or virtually non existent as in my case. I suppose I could save up and get tested myself but don’t know if others who are in my boat would feel they would like to know and if it would be more readily available for peace of mind if nothing else.
I saw this and have been trying to ring the local rheumatology advice line since then, but it is always engaged (what was 2 separate services have combined and had hours reduced). I had my spring booster today and am considering stopping the MTX for 2 weeks but would prefer to get qualified advice before doing so.
Since I made the vaccine I noticed that Medrol (cortisone) does not have the same effect that brought me back to normal life, no one believes me but it is the reality I, I say what I went through, I made the vaccine when I had swollen leg later I found out that it was a mistake, but the doctors didn't give me that much importance, they said I could get the vaccine ... Now I'm on baricitinib&leflunomide and I'm hoping for a remission, which seems to be
