Had my first rheummy f2f in 18 months on Friday. New male nurse CNS trained at Guys and now in our hospital. Took time to check my joints gave advice about tooth implants and even asked how long I had had teenage spots? Said it was possible caused by RA! Gave me cream for my face. I almost cried I was so overwhelmed that I was being listened too. How much I have missed seeing a medical professional - even though I hate going!
More bloods done and paperwork for the next two hurrah!
Have a good weekend everyone💐

I may ask my GP to refer me to Broomfield. Sound much better than Southend. Hadnt seen anyone for almost 3 years. It was a let down just don’t listen to you at all.
Broomfield have been great with me. I had serious problems with my shoulder and Mr Lawrence did a full replacement followed by fortnightly physio for six months. Had issues with meds swapped three times then straight to humira. Then upped again to biologics. Also had support from ophthalmic dept because of linked eye issues. I really can’t fault them I have been very lucky. They are terrific so yes get yourself swapped over! I think that Southend is now part of the mid Essex group. 💐
Wow, my sister is under Broomfield and they have been awful. She is in severe pain and effectively ignored. Better tell her to keep badgering. Also, I had to seek another rheumy as the Broomfield one told me I was imaging it! So, they must have had started on the path to enlightenment.
I had a phone appointment with my rheumatologist last week and after explaining my problemshe said that he wants to see me and to expect an appointment in about 3 weeks time. This will be my first F2F in 3 years. I told him how badly deformed and painful my hands and wrists had become and he said they were last x-rayed in 2012... I was surprised it was that recent!
Poor soul! That is just awful. I have had joint X-rays annually before covid and have been called in for a shoulder review X-ray this month. Best of luck and good health to you.
Thanks, yes I've been surprised by how often members get x-rayed and scanned. It's not as if I haven't let rheumy know that I've been having problems but I could have been more forthright i suppose. Along with my hands and wrists I'm also having trouble with my shoulders, which have both developed crepitus, the left just recently. I think the rheumatologist wants to try a different med so that will be interesting.......
You’re not alone regarding X Rays. I had a hip X Ray a few years ago as I complained about the pain which was in fact Bursitis but other than that I can’t remember if/when I last had anything x rayed at all tbh. I have pain in both wrists & knees mainly. 🤔
Thank you! I was even given cream to sort out some spots that I have developed with baricitinib can’t fault the support that I got. It made me feel quite emotional 💐
I think I saw the same rheumy nurse six months ago. Same hospital group. He's so professionaly helpful and knowledgeable. It was an incredibly positive turning point in my RA . Hope he stays!!!
And much quicker for the health care professional too. A good job , done well is quicker to do than a bad which needs to be unpicked, takes up more phone call /clinic time .
