I have been able to get the non live Shingles vaccine Shingrix from my NHS GP practice.

Due my second dose inJanuary.

Thought those of you who are under the impression that this is only available privately (which it was up to a little while ago.) should know.

Happy New Year to you all.

Yes they started doing it a few months ago for those that are immune suppressed and within the normal criteria for a shingles vaccine (70 years old). I unfortunately have had to pay for mine as I’m in my 40s. I’m due my second on 8/1 as was trying to get it before I start Baricitinib.

Hi can I ask how much you paid for this vaccine please. Im already on Metoject but I’m considering getting it done before starting biologics, I’m in my 50’s so probably won’t qualify for a freebie. ((hugs)) M x

It’s not cheap but for me it was worth it. You need two injections and mine are £220 each. It may be cheaper depending on location so do your research I guess. I am in London and could only find one place willing to give it to me even when I was paying!

I got invited through my gp surgery to get mine in December ( age 71 and on 20 mg mtx weekly). Second one due 2 - 6 months later. Interestingly, I had more reaction to this than any of my Covid jabs.
