Hi, I have just been confirmed with Covid 19, should I stop my Methotrexate medication, I am due to take it today? I have tried to get in touch with my Rheumatology team but they are not the best at getting back to you.
Thanks in advance for any advice

I was told to stop Methotrexate when I had Covid at the end of September and then there’s a period afterwards - I think my nurse said 4 weeks - before you can go back on again. You’re just giving your immune system a chance to put up its best defence to Covid by stopping the Methotrexate. Unfortunately I went straight into a flare up that’s still with me despite going back onto my medication and being given steroids but that happens every time my medication is stopped for a week or so. Just shows it works I guess! I’d check everything with your nurse and very best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I agree with julie.when i had my pneumonia i was advised to stop mtx then I ended up with flare ups for a long time.I take a lot of turmeric in addition to my regular drugs. I was not advised stopped MTX when I had my vaccinations though. Hope my jabs and boosters will be effective
Hope your feeling better soon, I think you are in the category to receive the anti viral treatments, I would contact your gp, if the rheumatology dept don't get back to you soon, I had an email from the Nhs yesterday to say we can have this if we test positive, best wishes Sarah 💕
To be honest currently it is a nightmare to get through to the GP so will wait for a response from my RA team but decided against taking it as I have started to feel chesty today. Fingers crossed I don't get a flare up.
Hi hope you are doing ok with the covid I had it about 6 weeks back and was told to stop methotrexate and my biologic for at least a week until I was well I think I missed two but then restarted
