Hello all just wondering if anyone has had their booster jab after the 3rd primary. I had my 3rd dose in September and getting my booster next Thursday.
Booster vaccine after 3rd primary : Hello all just... - NRAS
Booster vaccine after 3rd primary
Haven’t even had the third yet 🙄
I saw on the news and in newspaper that the booster after the third primary had been bought forward from 6 months to 3 months. I called the medical practice where I had my other 3 jabs and they said yes as long as there was 3 months after I had my 3rd dose I could have my booster and they booked me in for next week. Hope you get your third dose soon.Regards Carol
Not yet. I had my third on 17th September. I’ve spoken to the place where I had my first 3 and they have said I should get an invitation to book my booster but if I’ve not heard from them by the 20th December to call them.
I rang my doctors first of all but had no luck with them they said they weren’t doing any appointments until 22nd January so rang RA helpline and they just told me to book it wherever I could so called medical centre where I had my others and they were really helpful. It all seems hit and miss to me. Hope you get sorted soon.Regards Carol
Thanks for posting about this, I've been wondering if I'll be getting my booster at three months. I've had three primary vaccinations so I should be having my booster next month.
I had my third dose in September, recorded as a booster, trying to get it recorded properly (posted earlier this week about how). Rang RA team who are having a meeting and told me to ring back next week, hopefully I will be able to get it at a walk-in centre with letter from RA like last time. You have done really well with your medical centre.
I managed to book my booster online for 5/1, had my 2rd dose 5/10. It does ask if you have a severely weakened immune system and if your booking 3rd dose or booster. It’s meant I can have it done at local pharmacy, rather than a 50 mile round trip
Not yet. I was told when I had my third primary, also in September I’d be called for my booster in 6 months. That was before talk of it being 3 months post third so I'm not sure whether it will be this month, next month or 4 months. So I suppose you're one of the first group to have the third & then the booster so I may soon too. Will it have been before or after 3 months when you have yours?
Had my 3rd on 22nd September and when I contacted the medical centre where I had the other’s done a nurse worked out the 3 months and booked me in for next Thursday. It isn’t my GP surgery but one they sent me to originally and they have been more helpful than my actual surgery. You should be able to get yours after 3 months. Good luck.
Only just seen your reply Calph, sorry. Previously it's been my GP Surgery who have contacted me with date/time to have the vaccine at my local hospital but as yet I've not been contacted with a date for the booster. I tried to book on nhs.uk/covid-vaccination but it won't let me further than NHS number & date of birth. I think I’ll phone GP's see where we're at in my area.
Thanks for replying.
I had booster in September then Nov 15th got letter to have a 3rd primary Confused, I tried to phone the number and it was an answer machine telling me to press various numbers for vaccine 1,2 or booster. For anything else, a message saying they are not medically trained to answer any other questions and cut me off. I did econsult for GP who said they don't deal with the vaccine letters. Any advice welcome, thankyou. X
I also received a letter in November after having the 3rd primary in September. Nothing is easy today which is very frustrating and so when I read and heard on tv about them bringing forward the time from 6 months to 3 months I called my surgery who were no help and then RA helpline which told me to book wherever I could so I contacted the medical centre I went to before and they were on the ball with the information and had it there. When I got my 3rd primary I struggled to get through to them for an appointment so I went to the practice and they gave it me there and then. It might be worth you trying a pharmacy near you and take the letter about your 3rd primary and hopefully as you had your 3rd in September will give you your booster. Good luck
Thankyou. The confusion was that I was told the third vaccine I had was a booster by email not letter. The card with the vaccine I had said Booster Vaccination Record Card. I've just phoned the number on the letter of November and pressed as if I was wanting the 1st vaccine, just to speak to a person. He cleared it up and said I hadn't had the booster, it was my third primary I had had, "Who Knew". He's booked me in for the fourth vaccine being the booster at the end of December. What a confusion. Thanks for your reply.
Interesting to hear Chris Whitty announce yeterday that the plan is to give the severely immunosuppressed a booster 3 months after their 3rd primary vaccine....I'll believe that when it happens! Back in October I had a letter from rheumy stating, among other things, that I was immunosuppressed and should be given the 3rd vaccine. For clarification I took the letter with me when I went to the vaccination centre for my 3rd jab and unfortunately forgot to ask for it back after I handed it to the nurse. The letter, along with my explanation of the situation, made little difference and my proof of vaccination card provided on the day (Oct 26th) has it logged as a booster. Having lost the proof that I qualified for the 3rd vaccine, and after hearing Chris Whitty's announcement, I thought it wise to phone the vaccination centre just to check if they had recieved a copy of the letter from rheumy and it is logged in my medical records for reference, which does appear to be the case according to the call handler.
Following all the confusion over the 3rd vaccine, I tend not to leave things to chance and hopefully will be notified at the end of January when my booster, or what could well turn out to be yet a 4th primary vaccine for the immunosuppressed, should be due.
That’s good that it’s been logged on your records so hopefully you will hear from them for your 4th jab. It might we worth chasing them a couple of weeks before it is due.Good luck
Oh dear, you were in the same situation as me. When I did get InTouch with the booking centre by pressing for the option of any vaccine I was also told I had the third primary even though my card said booster. He said I was down for the Booster end December but booked me in for it there and then. If I'd had the third primary in September why did I get a letter offering me it in November. Very confusing. No wonder they are busy on the phones. You like me are probably in the system with a due date like I was .
Was it 119 you contacted?
No it was Betsi Cadwalada University Health Board. Mouthful isn't it. BCUHB vaccination team.
I had my 3rd primary dose in October and booster on Tuesday -- they are using Moderna for boosters and 3rd doses in Lothian. I believe 3rd dose is full dose and booster is half dose, so I expected to have less side effects but no such luck! I'm sure it's not as bad as Covid though
