My renewal was a paper based, it wasn't sent to the assessment centre but done by the decision maker at the DWP.

Just recently awarded didn't have f2f but had telephone assessment and payment within 2 weeks.

If it’s a FIRST application, you will have a F2F or telephone assessment. If a renewal, many are being done by Decision Makers (DMs) in the DWP at the moment, due to Covid backlog. It really depends on how straight forward it is, and if there have been changes etc. If the DM is ‘unsure’ then they will be forwarded to ATOS etc.

My renewal this year took 3 weeks and was done ‘in-house’.
