Covid Antibody Test

After having read a few peoples posts on hear referring to negative results from antibody tests I decided to try one myself. I take 10mg methotrexate a week and 400mg hydroxychloriquine a day. I was concerned that maybe my immune system would be low enough for the vaccine not to have had much effect. I am pleased to say that the results came back today and were positive for antibodies at a level of 606.0 U/ml. Of course it might not just have been the vaccine, I suppose I could have had the virus in the past without realising it, which would have helped. It really does help knowing though.

Thank you for such a positive post. We hear so much that is negative it's easy to feel scared of life in these difficult times.

You did get a spike protein antibody test? That’s the one you need to see if you responded to the vaccine. The nucleocapsid protein antibody test just checks for past infection.

My GP gave me a prescription for a test to see if I needed a booster. I was horrified when the result was absolutely zero antibodies! But on checking it was the wrong antibody test, and they re-did it and i have responded fine.

Interesting.. I think the only one available here is from onlinedoctor.lloydspharmacy... unless you are part of a research study.

No one knows what level of antibodies give what level of protection. On another thread someone said the blood transfusion service were accepting everyone with a result of 62 for plasma donations to help people with covid.

So I have 250, and am making the assumption that that gives me enough protection to stop me ending up in intensive care or dead. Maybe it’s not true, but I want to carry on living normally so that’s what I have decided for myself!

I’m sure a similar service exists in Canada...needs to be in country as you send off a sample. Your health service has the test...

Edit...here’ a private lab that does it. Where there’s one there will be more

Testing For All Immunity Tracker is the Roche quantitative test.

Yes I was very concerned .. possibly horrified too .. I had/have zero antibodies, but was partly prepared for it given my med. I think anyone should consider that possibility who does the Roche Spike protein antibodies test. Have Plan B ready to put in action, I say.

I used the Lloyd’s one don’t know what type it was.

I went to a private gp for a spike protein antibody test and was positive and just over 250. I take mtx and benepali so was pleased to see this, particularly as I’m exhibiting at a conference in October.

Hi just adding to this post as it may be helpful. I like yourself was concerned about not having antibodies after a friend tested negative. I had done a study & they e mailed to say my result was also negative so I decided to get a private test & asked my GP if they could take my blood for it as my circulation is so poor & he agreed & bloods booked for fri 13th!!! Unfortunately after a few days away I contracted Covid & am currently at home recovering. Yes it’s been & still is tough but I didn’t need to be admitted to hospital as I thought I might having 2 lung conditions. So my point is that it’s obvious I do have antibodies otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to fight this. The antibodies are only part of your immune system. Obviously I’ve wasted my money on the test kit now as no point in doing it but hey. It is what it is. X
