Here is the Public Health England report on Covid Vaccine effectiveness in clinically risk groups. Somewhat reassuring.

Thank you.🙏🏻 I couldn’t see anything about my med or any other meds/those known to deplete the immune and the vaccine efficacy on the Gov data. I am on Rtx and my B cells didn’t repopulate even though I left 6 months between last infusion and vaccine. Did an antibodies test and it showed no antibodies.. but I am pleased for those it is said to work for though. Let’s see what the Octave says soon.. NRAS had a zoom with one of the leading guys on that and he said he would detail more soon about Rtx. Whatever is said the test showed it didn’t work for me on Rtx, but hope it has for others. 🙏🏻

Thank you for posting this-it is extremely interesting. However it does not say whether the figures were compiled using the Alpha variant or the Delta variant. I have read that the vaccine is less effective against the Delta variant but am not sure whether this is a “best guess” or actual fact. Let’s hope that the Octave report has more detail.

Thanks for the link. The research can only ever be general as each one of us on this RA journey is unique and different! I am still going to take sensible precautions when restrictions are relaxed, but the key thing I’ve picked up is that it’s vital our RA is under control and as stable as possible to help give the best response to Covid.

I read this last night and I am very relieved. I had convinced myself that I had very minimal immunity from both vaccines (AstraZeneka.) This information will not alter the way I do things. I will always wear a mask when I am out, keep away from people and continue to wash hands obsessively but it makes me feel so much better to hear this information and allows me to feel safer with my family which is all I ask for in life.

Thank you all for your responses. Yes we need to continue to take precautions to protect ourselves. This report does not itself give us immunity!! It maybe a get out clause for the Government not do anymore to support the clinically vulnerable. I will get more confidence once the OCTAVE study findings are known. A reasoned response was given in an article on the BBC News website which sums it all up as follows..........:

The charity Blood Cancer UK says much more data is needed to assess vaccine efficacy in different groups of people who are immunocompromised.

Chief Executive Gemma Peters said: "The study states that vaccine response is lower in the immunocompromised, and there are too few immunocompromised people to draw confident conclusions. Also, there are a wide range of health conditions that weaken people's immune systems, and it is unhelpful to make generalised conclusions.

There is a challenge in the guardian today led by the blood cancers group and I would agree that the phe report is of limited value due to the low numbers of immune suppressed patients.
