Did you skip your injection for the Covid vaccine?

Hi Angels54, I am on abatacept and have noticed my joints are sore as in abatacept not working! I hadn’t linked it to the vaccine though but there’s a thought! In had the Astra Zeneca vaccine. Which one did you have?

I’ve been on it since October, I had to have a short break when I had Covid in November but in total have had 31 injections.

Unfortunately it hasn’t worked, my RA has actually got worse. My lovely Consultant has told me to stop and we’re going to try something else. This is my fifth biologic, I had many good years on Infliximab but that became less effective so the decision was made to change to something else.

Unfortunately not all drugs work for everyone, I’ve read so many positive accounts of Abatacept and had barely any side effects so had had high hopes for this one. I believe you should feel some effects within 3-6 months so if you don’t think it’s working it would probably be worth contact your Rheumatology Department.

Hi, I'm not on Abatacept but did notice my Tocilizumab was not as effective after the second jab. I contacted my rheumy nurse and got a steroid injection to ride me over to see if it kicks in again. Good luck

Hi Angels54, I’ve been on Abatacept since October & I was going along steady progress but alas once I had my vaccine it took a completely different path, a mass flare (astra Zeneca). That was in April. My Rheumy said that his door was constant with immediate flares due to vaccine, I wasn’t alone by any means. We waited to see if I settled down but I’ve just gone backwards so on Thursday last week, it was decided to stop Abatacept, so now bridging treatment with the damned prednisone for a few weeks to start new treatment.,, i hope you do start to feel better soon!!

Funny you should say that Angels but I was wondering the same, I am struggling too.Abatacept kills our T cells doesn’t it, which cause our type of RA. Astra Zeneca pumps T cells into us to ward off Covid, so there must be one hell of a battle going on in us.

I am hoping that I will start feeling better soon and really hope you do too.

I’m on Abatacept and had the Pfizer. I’ve not noticed any difference and got off incredibly lightly with side effects. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing! Hope it settles down for you.
